Officially The Republic of Tarkhazia and Mazuria, the state more commonly known as Tarkhazia is a former soviet state nestled between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. The Tarkhaz people have a long history of being repressed by both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, only recently gaining independence in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR. Once a confederation of tribes, the Tarkhaz were subjugated by the Romans, later the Byzantines, the Ottomans, and finally the Russians. For the first time in more than 2000 years, Tarkhazians have a homeland. Unrest as a result of ethnic and religious differences is prevalent, especially after the Chechen Wars and the onset of the War on Terror, the country is sees violence between Orthodox trianglist and Muslim groups. In part the violence is ethnic as well, as the Turkic-Caucasian Tarkhaz share a nation with the Kuban Cossack Mazuri. The 1st and 2nd Caucasian Wars has led to the occupation and splitting of the Mazuri state by Tarkhazia. Tarkhazia receives foreign support from both Russia and the US for its war on terror, Tarkhazia seeks a neutral foreign policy between the two powers.
Tarkhazian Defense Force.
Tarkhazian foreign policy operates only on interests of Tarkhazia, as evidenced by the title of its armed forces. However it is involved in peace keeping missions in various neighboring countries. It is divided into the Tarkhazian Army, The Tarkhazian Air Defense Force, and The Tarkhazian Maritime Defense Force. It operates a variety of modern western and Russian hardware, mixed with older Soviet Era equipment.
Military service is compulsory, but limited in Tarkhazia, only conscripting when volunteer numbers fall short. Troops often differ in basic equipment due to budgetary reasons. Most divisions are classified as being modern, or legacy. With modern equipped units being used for standard operations, while legacy unit operate more of a reserve or garrison role.
Tarkhazia Rifle Squad (Modern)
Slowly, the Tarkhazian government hopes to upgrade all units to modern standards as budgets allow. Modern AK variants produced indigenously along with western style helmets and ballistic armor.
Tarkhazia Rifle Squad (Legacy)
With older Cold War equipment, legacy units are kept in a more rear echelon or garrison role, however many do see combat. AK variants, Russian flak jackets and helmets are very cheap and easy to come by. Tarkhazia received a large stockpile of such equipment following its independence.
Tarkhazian Vanguard Team (Modern)
Vanguard teams are formed as needed from existing platoons. The basic principle was to give patrol and motorized units a viable defense against vehicles and VBIEDs. The basic strategy is to ride with motorized formations, able to disembark quickly from a small vehicle and neutralize a threat with light anti-tank weapons.

I want to make a Galaxia Nehellenium version of these guys like I did with my Union Of Nova Mirthan http://brikwars.c ... hp?t=16918. I'm thinking something like Khanate of Tarkhazia or something.
