Voin wrote:6. is there any way it's possible to do a "strafing run"? In other words, combine movement w/ autofire?
Yeah, you'd do it with Exposure Damage Field Hazards. Skill and Damage penalties would go up fast, probably -1 for each +2" of strafing distance. -5 to Skill and Damage for covering 10" of distance seems roughly fair. You should not be expecting to hit any small or medium targets with that long of a strafing run.
Voin wrote:I don't think it would be game-breaking to have an option for a "parabolic-arc cannon" that otherwise functions identically to the cannon in respect to "fire every other turn and can only fire bespoke ammunition", for things like howitzers, mortars, FPS grenade-launchers (and hey, the cannon example of pirate cannons would probably be more accurately represented by such as well).
Yeah, that's fine. If players are invested enough to want to make their Cannons into parabolic arc weapons instead of direct-fire weapons then I trust them to just switch them over on their own and not worry about it. For most players, direct-fire will deliver a better default experience, even if it's less technically accurate.
Voin wrote:Is it legit for a Cannon or Launcher to fire a Rocket?
Sure.
Voin wrote:9. How exactly does summoning an Explosive work? If I just want a new grenade or a Size 1 Explosive refill for my Launcher, do I just need 1d10 for the damage and then toss the grenade or plop it into a Launcher?
Yep, that'd work fine. Your 1d10 would summon a Supernatural Object of Size 1" or less and a single 1d10 stat (Damage, in this case), and that's really all you'd need. The Launcher supplies all the other stats, you'd just be Launching a d10 across the battlefield.

You could also use the d10 to summon a Purchased grenade of max XSize 1, which would have the same effect, except if you Fumbled it would happen in your hand instead of wherever your Launcher shot hit.

Chapter 8 wrote:Units who are either on Fire, trying to use objects that are on Fire, or both, take a -1d4 Skill Penalty (unless it's an object specifically designed to be used while burning, like a torch or a flaming sword). Units or objects that are on Fire also take a -1d4 Penalty to all Armor rolls.

Like all kinds of Exposure Damage, Fire Overloads (or, if you prefer, Overheats) affected units and disrupts their ability to Power their Weapons and devices for the turn. A unit on Fire has its Power limit reduced by one Weapon inch for every inch of the Fire's Size (for example, a four inch wooden golem burning with a three inch Fire would have its Power limit reduced from eight weapon inches to five).
It's always just the 1d4. The drawback of larger fires is what they do to your power supply.

Voin wrote:So what's the design-philosophy behind that? I'm asking so I can keep my alternate-poison-effects-based stuff I build off of that in-line w/ the template.
Well there's a couple bits here. One is that Skill is always one die, so anything past -1d4 starts to veer into autofail.

Another is that fire size can never be bigger than your actual size, so even the biggest fire is never proportionally bigger than a 1d4 is to a 1" minifig. Skill doesn't scale up with size, so it doesn't make sense for Skill penalties to scale up either. (In fact it really doesn't make sense to take any penalty at all, in a lot of cases. If I have a 20" pirate ship and the crow's nest is on fire, it shouldn't really have an effect on skill or armor or anything else that isn't directly crow's-nest related.)

The same applies to a lesser degree with armor - a 4d4 fire isn't hotter than a 1d4 fire, it's just bigger. So I tried to keep it simple there.

Power, by contrast, does scale up with Size, so it makes sense to scale up those penalties.

Is the score, the number of times they are mentioned in the rulebook?

You've had some spare time recently.

I think the only time someone is mentioned by name is for a picture anyway.
But if the ZZD pictures don't mention him directly that would make sense he still gets credit for them.
I havent really checked.
