The Ecto Conflict is a multi-faceted, massive scale, superwar being waged throughout the whole of the Devoid Sector. Primarily, it centers around the acquisition and control of the substance known as Ecto-115, the crystallized element of Corrupted Creativity, but the struggle has several deeper layers to it. In addition to several smaller factions, as well as drawing the outside casual interest of a few major ones, three colossal space empires (or significant parts of them) compete throughout this region of space. Ecto-115, a notably destructive energy source, was created when a lost clan of space dwarves discovered the region and murdered its populace in a genocidal bid for their hyper-creative powers. Their death energies sent shockwaves and residual echoes throughout the BrikVerse, spawning the deadly, ghostly element. The entire race was reborn as a spectral empire seeking vengeance for their great tragedy as well as seeking to protect their new birthright from the invaders. The two forces became locked in a stalemate that only grew more complicated when a third extragalactic empire of blood sorcerer space mercenaries became involved, seeing the deathly element as a powerful boon to salve their cursed bloodlines. Though relatively isolated, the Ecto Conflict is sure to have far reaching consequences.
