There are some interesting balance effects going on; for size one weapons, everything is working fine, but larger sizes increase in cost at a rate faster than stock rules. Attack and Armor seem to be overpriced when Use Rating adjustments are made. Still investigating; might end up combining this st...

Step 1: Assemble a BrikWars army however you usually do, using standard rules Step 2: "Hmmm, I really want my Hero to have an aura that boosts surrounding soldiers morale" or "Hmmm, I want there to be a three mini squad equipped with heavy laser cannons" Step 3: Use BrikSystem to build that one or t...

No time to build something now, but I want to stress: Abilties represent a core rule of action for a creation. They are atomic rules with no frills or anything terribly interesting in and of themselves. They are purchased in levels of power, which are either 1/2d6 or a flat 2 units of effect. For in...

Indeed it is. Charges isn't a point sink now. It may need an adjustment, but it theoretically works out well. That leaves Circumstance, Specify Target, and AOE with the only multi-sub-cost pricing schemes, and those aren't going to change. I'm going to try to build something new and different every ...

I think it is almost there. Just a few more tweaks, and it is ready for play-testing...whenever I get around to doing that. Latest changes allow things like inducing roll penalties on enemies and the example for building a new ability adds Telekinesis (inspired by Halflife gravity gun rules over in ...

That is quite a bit better, OneEye. Thank you. The green text is not under my control, BTW. That is a browser/forum setting that has to do with the code tag which functions exactly like the HTML code tag. It uses a monospace serifed font like a type writer (or more accurate historically, a Teletype ...

Movement is not written up "ridiculously complicated," it is just written in a way more in line with the rest of the system. It still works fine with the costs the stock way. The idea is not to duplicate perfectly the costs of the rulebook (though they are benchmarks) or provide anything new rule-wi...

Hmm, interesting crowd around here. A lot of opinions on what the rules are, are not, what they can be, and what they shouldn't be. I'll only say that the most fundamental rule of BrikWars and of construction toys is that creativity and fun are their own rewards, hence the rulebook's emphasis on DIY...

BrikSystem - Build Your Ability
Err, realized after posting last night that I should have put this in Bonus Material instead of Rulebook, since it is a supplement-ish kind of idea. So, basically these are reverse engineered rules for the guts of BrikWars. That is, you can build (almost) everything in the stock rules with these abi...

Well, there we go, I think I figured out how to do the ammo thing. So here's the initial run through of the rules. God, I am SO bored, why am I doing this? Anyway, I wouldn't say that I came up with this way; this is just how Hero System does things in a general sense, and I don't think there is a b...

(I am basing things off of the full BrikWars rules, in case I gave the wrong impression there). Ten turns, ehh? Wow, most table top games last about four (*cough* WARHAMMER*cough*). Thanks for the info; now to refactor the Ammunition rules. It very well could push the game into complete unplayabilit...

Play Stats Needed to Balance Homebrew Rules
So, I had been meaning to give BrikWars a try for ages, and I finally organized a QuikWars session with some friends the other day. It quite wasn't as awesome as I had hoped, but then again QuikWars is designed as a quick and dirty game that relies on the players being big Lego nerds, and two of the...
