Re: So I'm making a board game of steampunk empire building.

If you wanna be a real bro, make your game pieces simple enough to be made in 3d printers and your rules free. I'm pretty sure it's actually illegal to copyright the actual rules to a game, which is why you can download pdf versions from any game publisher's website. The actual cards and printed ma...

Re: Getting into 40k

Imperial Guard always looked the coolest to me. Space Marines and Chaos Marines seems to be what everyone plays. True, but the same goes for Guard. FAR less than Space Marines though. Space Marines are the poster boy for 40k and that makes almost every kid coming in want to be these big awesome ter...

Re: So I'm making a board game of steampunk empire building.

transportation station population generation I'm DEFINITELY including that exact phrase somewhere in the rule book! And yeah, I was already planning on having a lot of cards that would do things like that, and boon a player's economy in other ways. I'm trying to decide if the game will end after a ...

Re: Getting into 40k

If I could ever afford to get into 40k I'd probably go with Necrons, because--let's be honest--fucking space zombies.

Re: So I'm making a board game of steampunk empire building.

Dude, I've been playing Settlers of Catan since '05. I have every single expansion, including 5-6 player ones. That game is awesome. I also have three different versions of Risk, my favorite of which is the 2210AD variation. Twilight Imperium and Small World are both also incredibly fun games if you...

Re: Getting into 40k

I never actually played 40k due to the monetary commitment, but I DID read the entire main rule book and the Space Marine codex one time while taking an epic shit.

Re: So I'm making a board game of steampunk empire building.

I think I'm going to have the game last a set number of rounds, and the victor will be determined by how populous and wealthy his nation is at the end, so the entire game won't be based around simple conquests and who owns more countries than whom (although, that would be a likely successful strateg...

Re: So I'm making a board game of steampunk empire building.

First off, thanks for the feedback guys. Almost all of your comments have actually already been addressed in the current version of the game thus far; they simply didn't make it all into the initial post because I didn't want to make it incredibly long to read, and I was pretty drunk when I typed it...

I dunno... Grues are pretty terrifying....
Nemesis was more just kind of eerie than scary.
The Myst series are some good survival/ horror games with fucking epic boss fights and tons of blood and gore.

Does it only have one tiny gun though that is connected somehow to all it's internal workings, causing the entire thing to be destroyed once the tiny gun is fired only once? Or is that taking the metaphor too far...?

I'd still seriously consider it for around $20, plus that list of swag I mentioned.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth actually had a few pretty scary moments, but wasn't overall as scary a game as it should have been.

Well shit. All I was trying to do was drive the price up, only to end up letting Silver have it for considerably more than he had wanted.
