Left 4 Dead

Post by Erasmas » Mon Nov 24, 2008 1:47 pm

I cannot believe that there hasn't been a post about this game yet!

I don't check the site for about a week (wife and new boy are in the hospital) and you all let this little gem slip through your bloody fingertips?!?!

I downloaded the demo and have been having a butt-ton-of-fun blasting the hell outta the undead left and right. Zomb-ocolyptic fun for you and three of your closest friends (or three random saps nabbed from Live)!

Just be careful of car alarms and obese, vomiting damned!

I played the demo for a couple days, and was blown away. I'm defintely buying this game when I get my next paycheck. If anyone has it for PC, and wants to play, you can find me in the Brikwars group on Steam.

Still working through Fallout and will be for a long while.

Folks on other forums seem to like it.

Glad I'm not the only one whose main priority is still Fallout. Left4Dead was a good break for the 3 days my demo lasted.

I locked myself in the same room for a week until I beat fallout.

Played the demo. While cool, the fact that a) zombies are fast and b) zombies can die from not-headshots kindof sets me off. Sure, it's a great game regardless, but it still has me arguing with the concept a bit.

I played this for the first time today and was blown away.
In one word: Awesome.

Really like it because there is no real plot-line just get from point a to point b and fuck up some zombies in between!

Incorrect! It turns out that Left 4 Dead actually has a plot: every cheesy zombie movie rolled into one.

it never suggests how the infection started, all it says is some people are immune and you have to survive, yes its cliche but its not really a plot.

Yes!
I finally got a hold of the full game for Yule and have played through just over half of it. And cheesy or not, that game creeps the hell outta me and my friends - I watched one of them run to his car leaving my place after playing for an evening.

I think that they captured the desperation and feeling of being lost perfectly. There are times where you have no idea what to do or where to go, but you end up advancing the storyline anyways. The writing on the walls in the saferooms is what really makes it feel believable.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it!

Soon these games will be even more intense with VR.

So I've been looking at this game and it looks amazing and wicked fun. I really like the zombie mod on CoD:UO and stuff and I really want to play this online. I have a few questions for those of you that have it.

Does it take a lot of computer power to run? I'm not that computer savvy so anything that you say with computer parts and things like that I will have no idea about. I will be playing it online the entire time and I probably won't play through the story at all. I have a year-old Toshiba laptop with Vista and an Intel Celeron processor (that's all I know).

Is it fun to play online and is it worth buying just for that? I really just like playing games online and the single-player doesn't interest me as much.

Don't think you understand how Left 4 Dead works.

There IS NO STORY. Singleplayer mode is just multiplayer mode with bots. Multiplayer is infinitely better than single player.
