Maybe have a card where you can kill one ship that isn't a mother ship but also kills one of your ships? Like this
Cardname: taking you down with me.
Effects: choose one enemy ship and a ship that you controll you can choose to kill them both or kill no one.

Already have card like that, called 'last stand'.

Mutiny would be a good one. Causes one of their ships to go rogue. It's still an enemy to you, but it's now any enemy to them as well. Maybe ever turn it just randomly attacks something or it exclusively goes for the player it originally came from

Edit: a good picture would be a captain getting booted from a pirate ship

Having a rouge ship as you described would break the flow of the game a little I think. Can you think of any way to rework that?

There's already a card for taking someone's planet, um there's no way you want to give a planet to your enemy. Can you rework it at all?

I like this one! How would the direction be randomised? I'm also happy with the player just choosing the direction in which to move.

Actually while we're on the subject of colours, what four colours would you guys like to see in the final game?

Any four colours that are really distinct from each other. Don't do similiar colours like blue/purple or yellow/green or red/brown.

This colour blindness chart suggests that red and green would be a bad idea. Although I know it can vary depending on the shade of the colour, so the lime green in the renders might be OK. You'll probably want to get some plastic samples from your manufacturer and run them through some colour blind friends.
