The golden statue has its arms crossed over its chest, so Gerald tries crossing the arms of the posable statue across its chest. As he does, the statue and the cave wall behind it swings inwards, revealing a square room with three other doors. One seems to lead to the other posable statue. The other two are identical. There is a strange smell in the room, a sweet scent of flowers and death and ecstacy and other things... The smell seems stronger near the northeast exit.

Let's open both doors at the same time.
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

Gregor, Nisos, and Adarim open the northeast door while Saucix and Gerald open the southeast door. You notice that these doors also have snakeperson statues on their other side, but despite the statues' weight they swing open easily.

Behind the notheast door is a small room with further doors to the north and south. The sweet smell is stronger here. There is a chest of dark metal on the floor.

Behind the southeast door is also a small room with another door leading north. A creature is crouching on the floor.

The being carries a curved dagger and a large net with attached metal weights. It looks up at you, and with a flutter of its wings leaps to a standing position, balancing on its pointed legs. It gives a shrill cry.

Wait to see if that works. If it doesn't, chuck dagger and get behind someone.

Saucix sings a song he learned as a child in the elven land: "Tribute to Jacab and Cylaes", a song of how two elf brothers founded that land. (It sounds something like this.)

Rolled Cha 15+10

Saucix has barely begun his song when the other door to the room opens and four more fairies bound inside. Two carry dagger and nets, and two have heavy clubs. All five are soon captivated by Saucix' beautiful performance. As he finishes, they laugh and buzz their wings.

"A wonderful experience, elf," one of the fairies says. "Many would seek to steal your tongue. I must ask, could you aid us in a matter? We have been tracking an exotic and dangerous animal, and now it is right there."

The fairy points at Gregor.

I re-sheath my sword, mumbling about how lucky the fairies are that I permitted them to live without proving their combat first. "This is a friend of ours, whom we entered with and never lost sight of. However, his shadow recently disappeared... perhaps you could elucidate the matter?"

The fairy laughs. "Oh, we are not here to get the human; those are common and boring. But the creature we are stalking stalks that human, walking unseen in his unseen shadow. Just leave him alone and the beast will come out to devour him. Then we can capture it, and the King will have a new pet!"
