Once my brother installed it but I never played it.

Starcraft was a major part of my childhood. It's like a third brother to me.

It's been said that Starcraft is the best-balanced RTS game ever made, especially for one with three sides.

This.
Zerg ground units have strength in numbers, but they're easily countered by a few units, including Firebats and Reavers, which both do excellent splash damage (and Firebats get bonus fire damage) among other things. Mass Gaurdians, which are also a huge bitch, can be fought with strong air units (Corsairs or Valkyries), which is why any Zerg player worth their salt knows you need Mutalisks or Devourers to cover your Gaurdians.

I've actually figured out a lot of Zerg strategies, because last semester, in my Computer Science and Computer Engineering classes we played Starcraft almost every day. One of the other players was probably about equal to me in skill, so I always had to figure out new things to triump.

Hmmp it used to be the best well balanced,

the zerg are supposed to be cheap and fast, protos expensive ans slow , humans somwhere in between

The zerg devoured / guradian force is way too tought, 1 devoured vs 1 valkerie, the devourer always wins

They messed it up with the last few patches

Hate to break it to you, but every patch since around 2003 has been strictly to resolve networking issues and the like. Actual unit stats haven't changed since.
