Is there a 'Giant Lego Minifigure Collection' faction? The people on Brikwars forums would pwn with that faction.

Don't do it. It is worse then crack.
GW will suck the marrow from your bones and then leave you to die.
You have been warned, continue at your own peril.

I dunno, that $40 starter set on WH40k makes it seem too high-priced to be even addicting.
Warhammer 40k seems pretty cool, though I far prefer just reading about it. ^_^

If you get into 40k, do not expect to be able to buy a single Lego brick (or video game, or book, or movie ticket, or hot dog, etc.) until you quit.
That said, you should play Space Marines, since they get a power boost every time a new codex comes out.

There is a special slice of hell that is solely inhabited by 40K players, they constantly tell each other about their armies at the top of their voice even though nobody is listening. This conflagration of Evuul manifests in the physical world, these Hell Points spill out into reality as Games Workshop stores which are tended by Chaos Geek Daemons of unusual enforced virginal perversion. There are bright and decoratively tempting window displays to draw the unwary in, from whence their is little hope of escape with your wallet intact.
40K? Sure, ok, you'll have an endless supply of different players any time you want to play... but they'll all be insufferable rules lawyering pricks that will make you want to banhammer yourself with an egg whisk within 5 minuets of hearing their boastful badinage of how great their 40K is, AND if you beat them you'll suffer worse having to listen to their moaning whining laments of how could you, waaaaaa!..

warhammer is great, and 40k seems great too.
Dark eldar are cool, and their new range will be released soon.

It appears my idea is not well met. Hrm.
Perhaps not then. Ah well.

If you really want to get into it, Orks are the funnest army to play imo. But yes, it is way to expensive, so if I were you I would maybe buy like one plastic kit, so you have the experience of putting it together and painting it, but just have it to look at. Then read the w40k books/ play dawn of war, as that is pretty much just as good if not better than an actual game. then, profit! because the w40k universe has lots of cool stuff to use in brikwars, or draw, or just think about or whatever.
But, yea, I used to play, and then I found Brikwars, and decided that W40k was stupid as hell in comparison (just to save you some time, in coming to that conclusion.)

I've just had a look around.I saw one of their tanks at 15
$ shouted "
" and closed the window.
If you intend to use warhammer for anything less bonkers then use it as insparation for lego models ,besides their models may be overpriced but they are still quite awesome.

Yeah, I was planning on buying one set of Marines and figuring out how to paint them... and then just placing them on the shelf. It seems good for inspiration, like you said.

If i had to buy a set i would buy one squad of dudes and a tank/dreadnought then paint them and leave them there on the shelf until i gather the bricks to make a similar model.

If you going to play as space marines or orks, go for the assault on black reac boxset, by far the best value thing they've ever done.
also, I play Tau, its all good.
i eard that the sisters of battle andd grey knights are going to getnew coedxes, even if they don't, get sisters of battle (overpowered to an extreme, 11 points a model for (potentially) fearless models with (potentially) Amour peircing 1 (the best) guns).
