ERTD: Bloodbath

Things have not gone according to plan, as evidenced by the giant pillar of smoke before you, the flames beneath it feeding off of what was once your battalion's supply caravan. All around you are the forms of the dead and dying, blood running from their crushed bodies, staining the once pristine hillside a a murky red. The march had been uneventful, and all were getting their hopes up that the war would keep away from this area.
They were wrong.
The Vermatian sky-riders dropped from the clouds just after breakfast, catching the battalion unawares, and tearing their ranks asunder in the first seconds of the battle. The proud forces of Tyrin attempted to regroup, but they were already too badly hurt, caught completely off-guard, and slaughtered. As you pick yourselves off the ground, you notice a pair of others doing the same. Looks like you're the only three who are going to make it.

Ok, first things first: Play dead until I'm sure the sky-riders are really gone. Then get up and gather information: Who survived? Is everyone else dead? Who are the other survivors? Check status of the supplies. Make plan.

Same. Wait in the shadows (or even better, under a corpse) until the coast is assuredly clear before moving a muscle.

I take out my Saber. I'm going to hit the bastards with my sword. I also look around for any big guns.

After a few minutes of watching an angry man who lost his horse shouting at the sky, daring the Wyvern Riders to come and get him, it becomes increasingly obvious that they havve left, judging by the lack of blood spraying from his body.
I also look around for any big guns.
(1d6=2)
Unfortunately, this battalion was not that heavily armed, and you fail to find anything heavier than what you have on hand.

"There is little we can do for them. And they won't need their worldly possessions any more." I search the bodies of friends and foes for basic stuff: better boots, pocket money, provisions. Depending on the season I could do with a small tent that is not full of holes. Maybe one of the pack animals is still alife? A basic weapon like a quarterstaff would be nice, too.
"Hey, you. which unit are you from?" I ask the lizard - if he isn't hiding any more.

"Bloody 'ell, why don't you wear their guts as garters yah shag-eared bastahd."
---
"I suppose I shouldn't turn down anything that could help us form a new defensive line."
I loot the wreckage.

My skin color changes from the camoflauge pattern used to hide back into a dirty brown and green.
"Not a public unit, me jerkin! Secret orders from the Royal Basta'd hisself."
I dig through the wreckage myself for some light armour, and pretty much any weapon that isn't a dagger. maybe even a light shield?

"By Asgaroth's Black Flames! Three survivors and one has to be company clown. Now listen, Mr Guts-for-Brains: I don't know what you will do now, but I will do anything to stay alive. I don't want to waste the life that was given to me again today. For that I will take their stuff. So what!? Do you want to burry them? Have fun!"

"We haven't the time. Gather your gear and move on. Shall we regroup with the main batallion, or follow the Wyverns to their nests?"
Approximately how far away are any friendly armies supposed to be? Are there any horses nearby? What does the landscape around us look like?

"There's no point in moving forward against our enemies, we will have to fall back to meet the new defensive line. As the highest ranking man I'm taking command of both of you. So grab yer shite and let's move on."

"My thin white shits are higher rank than you are. Nonetheless, I agree that we should fall back to the defensive line."

I search for the corpses of our commnding officers. What I want are official documents, seals, insignia or anything that can be used as evidence for the story we will tell. I don't want to be accused to be a deserter. An enemies badge wouldn't hurt to complete the set.

(Thought I'd forgotten you?)
Knoli 1d6=5
You are lucky enough to find a weeks worth of prvisions (for one person), and a few coins. It beng early summer, a tent is not needed.
Silver 1d6=2
Nope, still nothing to be found.
Knoli 1d6=2
The officer's must either be mutilated or hidden wery well within the field of bodies, as none are to be found.
(Charater stats going on top post, you guys still need to do some final work.)
