Claw your way through the ranks to become the top trainer, but be wary: just as whoever dominates Pokémon World Online now may fall into ruin, so may you.

I tried something like this a loooooong time ago in elementary school, if this is the same thing, its stupid don't play it (the same goes for pokemon in general but you're past the point where i can dissuade you from it).

I used to play NetBattle, when I was like eleven. You just battled Pokemon, over and over again.

I wonder if people still do that.

You just posted that on a site about making little lego creations and fighting with them.

Yes! But it's incredibly well made, i've sunk a few hours into it by now and it's very well put together. It completely matches Pokemon Red/Blue/Green, and my inner child is very, very happy right now.

Duuuuuude, menu-based combat is really, really boring.

Jump out of the eighties! Play a game with GAMEPLAY!

Brikwars is a *much* more free and awesome game, aided cheifly by the fact that rules can be :fudge:ed as you go along.

I'll just let you mull over my $2,500+ worth of modern video games.

Even though a game is old, does not mean it's still not good, and is still not of high quality.

That surely brings back memories. I once became Champion in Blue just after 24 hours.
Looks like in PWO you could beat the "story part" similarly fast. All that remains to do after that is collect, trade, breed and PvP. But I have never been a big fan of that. That's more work than fun.

Pokemon games haven't really evolved (teehee) since their original incarnations, while the rest of the gaming world has made leaps of innovation and progress. I've never been able to enjoy Pokemon or Final Fantasy or anything with menu-based combat and canned animations (or no animations, as per Pokemon). There are just so many more interesting ways to do it.

It's all about Smogon anyways.

No lame story, no gym badge bullshit, no breeding or leveling up. Pick your dream team, punch in the EV values and set them to level 100. Give it any 4 moves it can legally learn, and then battle with people online.

One of my old dream teams had a charizard that was more or less unstoppable: substitute, belly drum, fire punch and ice punch. It had some berry which, combined with belly drum, would bring the bastard down to 25% HP and give him stupid bonuses to both speed and damage. Ideally, all of this behind a substitute.

Pokemon's combat may not have flashy animations (and I think they should re-boot the series from a three dimensional third-person viewpoint), but the nitty gritty details about guessing whether or not your opponent will switch pokemon and give you a free attack actually *mean* something when you're using awesome teams.
