Round 5

The final installment...!

Bull Renegades - Zupponn



"MUMBLE MUMBLE BOOM BOOM!" Mumbles shrieks at the tank turret.



He doesn't have Punik's luck. Oops.

Royals - Brikguy



Queen Lara tries to bring down the thunder.



A rare critical fail on the mage's part shocks her and damages her for 1 HP.



Princess Lorreaine charges Croses.

"Show me what you've got, invader!"



*clang* Lorreaine's nodachi clashes on Croses' shield.



The Falx general strikes back, but Lorreaine shows that they are evenly matched.

Aloysius Black - Elmagnifico



Aloysius tries one last action before expiring, which I would've allowed if the roll had been good enough to justify it, but alas, it was not so. (Remember you could always invest in a skill that lets you have a limited number of actions even after you're defeated, that's perfectly possible).

Droe De Alar - lawmaster



Mumbles was already dead, but this time I simply assumed lawmaster would want to kill him again.

Falx - SwedesInSpace



Croses stabs the princess, but her armour saved her that time.



He parries her riposte.



The Falx that were standing around keep standing around, this warbeast does manage to finally come out on top against Squire Joul.

NPC's - NPC'd (orly?)



Tachi tries to kill a crossbowman but damage fails him.



Punik and Rolys move closer. The Esti swordsman is just out of range so Rolys sets up response fire.

At this point, since the action was winding down, I decided to roll out the remaining rounds. Hope you don't mind.

Round 6

Royals



Lara tries to repeat her feat from the last round, this time with more success: lightning strikes both warbeasts for 1 HP of damage.



The one that was already wounded perishes.



Lorreaine fails her attack and Croses hits her against the back of her helmet.



Irritated, Lorreaine hits Croses with a mighty blow that knocks him down (-1 HP).

Droe De Alar



With no one left to (re-)kill on his side of the field, Droe tries to get back into the fray.

Falx



A crossbowman tries to shoot Nodachi, but he brushes it off.



The warbeast closes in and strikes him in the face, but he brushes it off.



... and kills the warbeast with a counter! (+3 XP, +3 gold). The final crossbowman tries to shoot Nodachi, but he misses.



The final swordsman runs right into Rolys' response fire (+1 xp, +1g)



Croses disarms Lorreaine with a critically successful feat.



Once again though, her armour proves too tough.

"Seems like you need a bigger sword."

NPC's



Rolys shoots Croses but the arrow bounces off his helmet. Punik hits him but even the blunt weapon isn't sufficient to strike through the tough Falx armour.

Round 7



Queen Lara casts a bio spell, causing the plants covering the rocks to reach out and strangle the crossbowmen.



The princess tries to kick Croses away from her and reach for her sword, but this leaves her open for a vicious strike (-1 HP).

Droe De Alar



He's still coming!

NPC's



And so is Nodachi.

Falx



General Croses realizes he's all on his own. Augusta is still breathing, but she's no longer of use to him. In a final bid for victory, he charges Queen Lara, attempting to take her hostage to force the crusaders to let him go.



The feat fails narrowly (roll of 2 vs. 3), giving Queen Lara the chance to all but burn Croses' face off (-1 HP).



Croses swings his sword in a blind rage. Queen Lara's natural armour is pretty low, but the strike lacks power and can't even get past her shield.

NPC's



Rolys and Punik combine their efforts...!



Croses is finally beaten. (+2 xp, +2g for both) (Surprising) Kingdom victory!

Aftermath



Queen Lara: "You couldn't seriously expect to get away from me."

Croses: *sigh* "It would seem I'm your prisoner once again, milady."

Queen Lara: "'Milady', hm? Isn't it always 'barbarian' with you Falx?"

Croses: "No. Resisting our invasion so effectively, invading one of our worlds... You've clearly proven to be more than mere barbarians."



Rolys: "This one was still alive, your grace. I'm afraid we weren't able to bind her hands."

Augusta: "No... Just kill me. I have lost my... purpose."

Queen Lara: "I'll be the judge of that."



Princess Lorreaine: "Your grace, if I may, we may not be able to hold them long. Considering our losses, the next patrol we encounter might be enough to capture us instead. We should locate and regroup with our remaining forces as soon as possible if we want to have even a chance of continuing this invasion."

Queen Lara: "All right then. I'll get the wounded patched up and then we'll be out of here. Once I find out who tampered with the portal there will be hell to pay."
