Quadrarian Saga Season 1 (Encounter 3)

Post by Quadruple.Digits » Sat Sep 13, 2014 1:36 am

Chaps and Chappettes,
I shall be your MC for this next forum battle. I present the Quadrarian Saga: Season 1, a RPG-style Brikwars Campaign.
As the pilot series, expect to see a new style of gameplay and plot development.

The story begins with our 8 heroes finding themselves lost on Balwryn Prime, the heart of the Quadrarian Empire.

The heroes are as follows:
Image
Arranged as follows: Terrorkhan, Assyrian Soldier, Assyrian Sergeant, M-Throne Soldier
Assorted Soldier (Red), Assorted Soldier (Blue #1), Assorted Soldier (Blue #2), Assorted Soldier (Green)

Each player is entitled to one (1) 'hero'. Similar to most RPGs, these will start off weak, then increase in power as the season progresses. Feel free to name your hero and give them a backstory, but remember life is cheap on Balwryn Prime.
If your character dies, tough luck. Game over.

The campaign factions (such as the Royal Quadrarian Post) will be controlled by yours truly, or one of my minions, HOWEVER this will change as the season progresses. I will also control NPCs - this is non-negotiable.

NO SECRET FACTIONS ARE AVAILABLE.
Instead, you can opt for a 'late entry hero'. This will consist of one (1) hero, entering the series at an undetermined point, at the average hero power level.
FOUR (4) LATE-ENTRY HEROES ARE AVAILABLE
ANYONE WILLING MAY SIGN UP FOR A LATE-ENTRY HERO.

Remember, first-in, best dressed.

Also, the entire season will be run in this thread. Remember to tune in regularly.

[SIGN-IN COMMENCE]

Could I have Blue #2?

His name is Sly Blue. His actual name is Flordo Drakkleton, but he's known for being a pilot, a spelunker, a mountain climber and a bounty hunter. He generally enjoys living the Cowboy Bebop/Firefly/Guardians of the Galaxy lifestyle, and one day he plans to retire on a mountaintop mansion made of all of the loot he's stolen, earned and found. He's pretty good with technology, and he used to have his own ship, before it was destroyed.

Likes:
-Mountains
-Valuable artifacts
-Piloting vehicles
-the thrill of stealing things
-scantily clad Peach women

Dislikes:
-Crevasses
-Spicy Food
-Deserts
-Calling his Mom
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway

I'll play the terrorkhan

"Weapons specialist chan reporting sir" "kaboom!"

chan likes blowing things up, a lot. he also enjoys making crazy weapons and contraptions just as likely to kill the user as the enemy, but speacial effort can create somwhat stable devices. chan's state of mental health remains questionable, but he is still a highly trained fighter, like all terrorkhan.

Assorted soldier red please.

Commander "Bravo" is a random dude who accidentally killed an enemy leader and was promoted on the spot. Other than that there isn't much to say.

Ok chaps, now all main spots are filled, let's begin. Please note that three late-entry spots are free, so if you wish to participate give me a buzz.

How this thing shall be run:
Spoiler
Show
How this works is I will post 'encounters'. These shall be, as the name suggests, an encounter between one or more heroes and one or more factions. One encounter shall be run at a time, and will follow standard Brikwars battle rules. The encounters shall end when all members left on field are of the same faction/alignment. This means that all other participants must have died, fled or joined the winning faction. To make this clear, fleeing and changing sides are options.

Between encounters, heroes will have opportunities to upgrade stats (the usual: skill, movement and armor) or abilities. The abilities are as follows:
- Champion:
I. One heroic feat per encounter
II. Two heroic feats per encounter
III. One heroic feat per turn
- Command:
I. Gain control of the squad the hero is in, redshirting.
II. Gain control of D3 units in parent faction plus the squad the hero is in, redshirting.
III. Gain control of parent faction (while hero is present), redshirting
- Piloting:
I. Driving vehicle and firing vehicle weapons takes one action each
II. Driving vehicle and firing vehicle weapons takes one action
III. Driving vehicle and firing vehicle weapons for free
- Strong:
I. Can use weapons of +1", provided no movement
II. Can use weapons of +1"
III. Can use weapons of +2"
- Stealth:
I. Can move while hidden at 1/3 speed, and pickpockets on D3 (1/2 D6, only 6 gives critical success)
II. Can move while hidden at 1/2 speed, and pickpockets on D6
III. Can move while hidden at full speed, and pickpockets on D12
- Medik:
I. Can make revive rolls on D3 (1/2 D6, only 6 gives critical success)
II. Can make revive rolls on D6
III. Can make revive rolls on D12
- Supernatural:
I. One supernatural die per turn
II. Two supernatural die per turn
III. Three supernatural die per turn

As well as upgrading abilities, heroes will also have the chance to loot bodies, fix broken equipment, and steal stuff from other characters.
If you have the opportunity to steal, pick something you want to steal from another character/characters. To steal that object, I will determine the necessary roll to make on a D6 (usually 4+). If it is equipment being used by that character, a (usually) 4+ will be needed on a pickpocket roll. Unstealthy characters cannot pickpocket. If the object is owned by multiple characters (eg. a vehicle), you will need to make a steal roll for each owner. A successful roll means you gain ownership of that object, with the label of 'stolen'. An unsuccessful roll means the owning character (and possibly friends) will be hostile to you in the next encounter you participate in. If a character notices the object you are using is stolen, they will possibly become hostile to you. By fencing an object (customizing, defacing, changing paint job, etc) the object will lose it's 'stolen' status and you will be free to use it unimpeded.

If it's all a bit complicated, don't worry, I will walk you through it.
In other news: Character Roster
Terrorkhan 'Chan' - Brickguy
Assyrian Soldier 'Filipe Avius' - Vami
Assyrian Sergeant 'Arius' - Scratch
M-Throne Soldier 'Guy' - Quantumsurfer
Assorted Red Soldier 'Bravo' - Lordintype
Assorted Blue Soldier '#1' - Lawmaster
Assorted Blue Soldier 'Sly Blue' - Silverdream
Assorted Green Soldier 'Parts' - mgb

Late Entry #1 - M220

[END SIGNUP FOR MAIN CHARACTERS]

Edit (15-10-14):

Late Entry #3 - Scribonius
Late Entry #4 - Bad Wolf
Late Entry #5 - *Mystery Guest*

[Terrorkhan:] You crash into the ground, the force of your impact creating a crater around you. "Note to self:" You think. "Make better contingency plans when blowing up spacecraft." Luckily for you, your jetpack managed to slow your descent enough to not kill you, but now it's knackered. You'll need a day with a good spanner to get it working again.
Debris crashes around you. You look up in time to see a glowing object narrowly miss your head, smashing into the ground beside you. Oh, look. It's the Fusion Core from that Assyrian Spacecraft.
Image
You figure you could make a pretty decent bomb out of it. Might be good to hang onto it.
You take stock of your surroundings when... oh feces.
Image
It seems some of your old friends want are holding a little party. And you're the special guest.
Spoiler
Show
Terrorkhan: Surviving would be good. You don't have the parts to blow the Fusion Core yet, so maybe keep it for another occasion.
Assyrians: That sucker blew your ship. Also, you might be able to get a decent reward for the return of the Fusion Core.
M-Throne: The Empire is researching alternate energy sources, and that fusion core fits the bill. Try to retrieve it, and ice any hostiles on the way.
'Bravo', '#1', 'Sly Blue', 'Parts': That Fusion Core looks like your ticket off-planet. See if you can get your hands on it - it'd fetch a good price.
It's a standoff for a second when a vehicle pulls up.
Image
The chap on the back yells out to you.
"It's not safe out there! Here, come with us. There's eight (8) spots in the back, so we can fit all of you. Just be quick about it!"
After the words leave his lips, the lake starts bubbling.

Forgive the dodgy photoshop, I was trying something different.
New Objectives:
Spoiler
Show
Everyone: Might be a good idea to split. Also, the Fusion Core could be a good grab.
For this encounter, all Player Heroes are regular Minifigs (1D6 Skill, 5" Move, 4 Armour) with Pistols (3 Use, 6" Range, 1D6 Damage) and Broken Helmets (No benefit, +1 Armor when fixed).

Also, in future encounters, I will not post hero objectives. You have to make your own decisions. Also, remember you do not have to follow the objectives I just set. If you wanted, you could try to overcome the halftrack pilots, burn everyone else to a cinder, then get out with the loot. But trust me, it's not a good idea. And no respawns.
Alternatively, if you don't trust the halftrack guys, you could run the opposite direction, and try your luck solo or with a friend. You never know what might happen...
