Stockade Skirmish - Turn Eight

Post by Kommander Ken » Mon Aug 03, 2015 10:45 am

Here we go again, fellas. Welcome back to the Stockade Skirmish. The exciting conclusion is just over the horizon, so lets get down to bloody business.

Frostborne Heavy Reinforcements (RedRover):

Image

This ranger duo raise their bows and fire at the undead hero, who retaliates by forcing a redshirt on his newly summoned minion. The damage would have been devastating were it not redirected.

Image

The rangers then realize how screwed they are at the mercy of the undead and quickly leave the mountainside, jumping off and landing on a smaller rock formation below before finding their footing on the ground.

Image

The two rangers make it safely out of reach of their undead adversaries, but what awaits them next?

Image

Probably by Ken’s own bidding (though probably not just by seeing the look on his face), his dire wolf mount raises up on its hind legs and lets out a blood-curdling howl.

Image

The howl is great enough to knock over the High Lord.

Image

And the only Norseman inside the stockade’s perimeter. No other nearby enemy units are affected however.

Undead Sentinels (Lawmaster):

Image

The High Lord uses a couple inches of move to raise from his disrupted position.

Image

The last remaining sentinels move after the Frostborne rangers but hesitate at the edge of the mountainside, glaring after them.

Frostborne Villagers (Sir Sporktimus):

Image

Seeing the mounted archer getting dangerously close to the end of the map with loot, the brown-hatted villager runs toward him and jumps over a pile of crates.

Image

He then crit-fails his attack roll and trips, revealing shiny bits of gold ore stowed away in the bottom crate.

Image

The other villager inside the woodcutter’s hut flings the decorative shield like a Frisbee.

Image

At a ridiculously successful bunch of dice rolls, it gains enough speed to slice right through a norse archer’s neck, leaving a stream of blood behind it as it keeps going.

Image

It smacks into the horse’s hindquarters but doesn’t do enough to continue the streak of overkill damage.

Image

The drunken lumberjack gets a drunken idea and drunkenly winds back.

Image

He tosses his bottle over the fire.

Image

It crashes against a chest and the nearby fire starts to rake out toward the booze-soaked wood, rendering this bit of loot unrecoverable.

Norseman Warriors (Scratch):

Image

The last remaining horse archer finally find his way off the map, and just before leaving he turns around and surveys the battlefield. “So long, suckers!” He yells and gallops away into the pine forest and out of sight.

Loot stolen: 1 out of 2. (would have been 3, but one’s kind of on fire right now)

Image

A pair of warriors work together to handle the last recoverable chest of gold over the battlements.

Image

One of them dangles the chest over the edge of the wall, seeing a perfect target just below.

Image

It’s dropped off the wall and lands on the disrupted villager. Surprisingly, it only pins him down instead of squishing him.

Image

The warrior climbs down the wall and grabs hold of the chest. :twss:

Image

He then uses the rest of his move to drag the the chest in the same direction as the horse archer. He doesn’t make it safely off the map quite yet.

Draklon Raiders (Silent-Sigfig):

Image

Lucer stares at the Pacifass, having never seen such a bizarre and horrible thing in his life.

Image

"Nope.” He then turns around and books it.

Image

His sprint roll gets him over the river,

Image

but not quite through the woods. He makes it to the other side though.

Image

A spearman mounts one of the horses.

Image

Meanwhile everyone else moves up.

Image

Including this guy, who hops off the broken pier and back onto the bridge, using the rest of his move before he can find footing on solid ground.

Image

This soldier finds an opening in his opponent’s defense and takes it. His damage roll is so large, it slices the Frostborne swordsman in half.

Image

The rider of the Iron Crossbow pulls a whip seemingly out of his arse to persuade the horse to keep moving forward.

Image

He then takes a second to reflect on his actions, wondering if this was a good idea.

Image

It was!

Image

The horse takes the hint and The Iron Crossbow glides over the river.

Image

"YEEEEEEEEEE-HOOOOO!"

And it too makes it on the other side, much to Lucer’s surprise.

Image

Image

Finally it comes to a stop just past the shoreline.

Frostborne Warriors (Dienekes22):

Image

Farcus cuts down a Draklon soldier in his way. The disrupted swordsman lying amongst a pile of pine leaves finally stands up and joins his comrades.

Image

Their hero leads them to the stockade, where he turns and surveys the enemy forces closing in on them. “Come at us, Draklon dogs! Taste the bite of not only our steel, but our dire wolf!”

Tree-Hugging Pacifass (Mgb):

Image

His desired targets out of range, the pacifass can only move up to the river. “Heathens!”

Environmental Effects:

Image

The fire begins to die down a little.

Other Stuff:

-Seeing the battle will only last another turn or two, I'll probably be quickly fulfilling all factions' orders if I don't receive them within a week. Unless anyone has specific tasks they want done, most of what I'll be doing is continuing past orders of "move here" and "attack this dude", etc, etc.
