BULL FUGITIVES



The Ambushers stay still to Aim and combine fire on the Warg, dealing a (disappointing) 1 SP of damage to it.



Thanks to the extra movement from the Matriarch's failed feat, the Bulls are able to close the distance and attack. The Matriarch still has her action so she and Valarius attack each other simultaneously, but her swing misses.



Valarius' doesn't. He aims specifically at the Warg and kills it. Two of the Shieldbearers meanwhile fail to kill a Reaver.



The remaining Shieldbearers fall upon the Matriarch, savaging her with their spears. She goes down fighting, parrying a single strike with her shield, but even her tough armour eventually cracks.



Smelling victory, Valarius tries to demoralize the Drakhirri further by cutting down their standard, but he accidentally breaks his sword against it instead.



The icons drag the Shaman and his items to safety, get to cover against potential ranged attackers and prepare a warm welcome for anyone trying to enter the cave.

If I keep The Black Wolf alive, is there a chance he might make future appearances in the story?

Don't worry about him dying:

The Rulebook wrote:Heroes have a way of always popping back up in one form or another, no matter how many times you think you've killed them. (...) There is no number of deaths or defeats that can prevent the best characters from finding a way to return. Unless they're boring, in which case no force can save them.

Valarius right there got impaled on a lance and had his heart eaten in the 2nd battle he appeared in.

What about the nineteen Golden Lion commanders that got 86ed?

Zahru had the same problem with his Orc Chieftains, they just kept dying. I usually just keep making new Heroes until one distinguishes himself either by being cool or the forces of Koincidence picking his side.

IMPERIAL GARRISON



Some guardsmen attack Pete and his fiance.



They don't deal enough damage and one gets killed by a counter.



The guardsman who stole the staff crit fails and falls over.



The Peasant Rebellion allying with their oppressors? What madness is this?! Both sides get a Benny Of Inevitable Betrayal. If the alliance carries on too long the Water Demons may have to punish this betrayal and peasants may start to doubt their loyalty to the Rebellion.



The Commander whistles and his barded warhorse shows up soon after.



He gallops towards the Bulls and strikes at a Shieldbearer, but crit fails and misses.



The Shieldbearer turns around and strikes the horse, wounding it.

DRAKLON RAIDERS



A Reaver picks up the Draklon banner and smacks Valarius with it, but the heavy armour and the shield is too tough.



"You want this?! Take it!" the banner carrier says. He crits the strike but then only gets a '1' on his damage roll.



The other Reavers retreat and form up, preparing counters and covering each other. The one stuck in combat with the Shieldbearers manages nothing.



The bridge isn't that hard to put aside so the Draklon boat pushes it aside. Mariners fire at the shark.

THE WOLFPACK



"Hey Fishface, is that a shark over there or is that your mom?"



"RAH!"

Fishstache takes a wild swing at The Black Wolf but he bends back and the swing accidentally strikes down one of the Heavy Swords.



The Wolfpack Rangers try to swarm Fishstache. Two get cut down on the way there, but two make it! They narrowly fail to beat his armour.



Four rangers flank and fire past the shields and the water. One shot plows through and kills two Mace-Demons.

SCALLYWAGS OF THE HOLY FLAME



Slimy Pete runs for the mill. His fiance gets cut down on the way there.



He gets a Last Man Standing Benny and mutters a prayer to the Holy Flame, but it seems the Holy Flame prefers action to prayer, for nothing happens.

THE PEASANT IMPERIAL LAPDOGS



The crossbow rabble moves up as the rest of them swarm towards Slimy Pete. Crossbows are just out of range so they set up response fire.



Pete had best pray hard, and fast.

WATER DEMONS



Fishstache tries to shoot the shield outward towards the Wolfpack like daggers, but aims the wrong way, making all of his men (and himself) take 1d6 damage. Luckily for the Water Demons the damage rolls aren't too high.



They then spread out and each attack a target.



Only Fishstache manages a kill.
