The barricade burns away, embers and rotting husks littering the space. The flame continues to burn along the edges but is starting to die.

Liossans land their first troops inside the wall.

The crossbowman toss their fallen foes aside. They fire across the gap at but aren't able to hit anything.

Infantry advances and bolts sizzle toward one of the horsemen.

A flurry of critical successes bring him down. One of the crossbows accidentally hit the footsoldier but not enough to hurt him.

The other horseman finds himself in a similar predicament.

He, too, is slain and the Liossans advance toward the burning barricade.

With the only ladder down taken these spearmen of the Steel Legion jump safely onto the grain cart. Their brothers watch from the wall.

The ballista is loaded.

But the shot is off the mark once more.

The rangers and cavalry set up to defend the docks from the newly arrived Aethannians.

The last crossbowman find their marks.

They slay an footsoldier. A very successful parry saves the man in the foreground.

The crossbows retreat off the wall.

Ancelot issues his orders.

They are relayed down the line.

Ancelot charges with a few of his men toward their right flank. "For Vasluxia!!"

One Liossan dies while a parry saves the other. Ancelot tries to toss down the ladder but is unable.

The rest of the infantry prepare to make a stand at the gates of the Keep.

The ballista is wheeled toward the dock but it can't get far enough to fire at the arriving raiders.

The ladies take cover inside the strong tower.

The citizens make a mad rush to the mill with varying amounts of success.

Three of them are lost to panic.
(Now that the enemy is inside the walls the citizens will have to succeed on a sanity check to act (2+))

The raiders make landfall.

They make up as much ground as they can. That citizen is slain but I guess I didn't photograph it.

The state of the field.
Send orders for turn 5!!
