They become Lucia's enforcers as they decide to stick around, the war beast picking up a halberd and moving towards the wagon.

The gunmen wipe out Lorreaine with a devastating volley (42 damage). (Muskets are indeed two-handed)
Aloysius Black - Duerer

Undaunted by Lucia's threat, Aloysius pushes his ribault into range.
"If we don't save them they're as good as dead anyway," he mutters.
"Alright, THAT'S IT!" Lucia shouts.

She makes good on her threat, decapitating the unconscious captive.

Aloysius opens fire. A cutthroat, more loyal than you'd expect, leaps to push Lucia out of the way.

The redshirting cutthroat is killed, Lucia survives but is disrupted.
James the Black - RedRover

Marksmen move up and shoot at one of the cutthroats, however they're slightly out of range and miss due to the penalties.

"You call this slave driver your leader? Where's your sense of honour? Strike her down and elect a proper commander from your own ranks!" James says to Magio's men.

"We will never betray the Republic!" the gunmen answer, shooting at James. His cover and his armour saves him, however.
Due to a failed speech feat, Lord James will have to do something extra heroic next turn to retain his heroic status!

The freed soldiers sprint to the edge of the battlefield. Unarmed, they probably shouldn't stray too far, or they might get eaten by some jackals!
Lucia's cutthroats - Archduke (but NPC'd... again

Cutthroats fire on Aloysius and James, but one misses and the other attack bounces off James' heavy armour.

Lucia picks up a pistol and despite being out of range and Aloysius' cover shoots a near perfect shot, hitting him for 1 HP damage and removing the bonus armour granted by Lord James earlier.

She then kicks the unconscious captive that's still alive, trying to wake her up.
"Hey you! Get up, let your buddies out of the wagon and fix the damn cart already!"

The prisoner wakes up, but has no intention of following orders! She picks up her axe and strikes at Lucia, who parries just enough of the damage to survive.

It's close... really close. The heroes are outnumbered though, can they do it?
