The crossbowman above make quick work of two nearby foes. The suit guy is unharmed because he looks like he belongs.
Ares, in control of the Automaton, breathes fire toward his foes.
It lands among the veterans.
And becomes an excellent excuse to use this explosion one more time. Unfortunately, the range penalties are enough to save the veterans.
Enraged, and somehow internalizing a way to blame Athelard for this, and not his own bad breath, Ares prepares to leap to the tower...

The other clan warriors stop as their mate gleefully gallops around with his stolen horse. "You know," one says to his mate, "seeing my friend get pulverized to bloody mist by a crazy-haired hero jumping off a tower has ruined my appetite for violence."
They hit the road.
Meanwhile, reinforcements arrive. The main army will likely arrive soon.
