The Siege of the Dunlan Fortress - Turn 3

Post by Joshua » Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:30 pm

The defenders are starting to crack, but will they break?

Bull Knights - My brother

Image
The catapult fires...

Image'
And decapitates a swordsman on the walls!

Image
His corpse falls down.

Image
The knight merely moves over to fill in the gap and the swordsman waiting at the bottom of the ladder climbs up.

Image
Cedric runs over to the Fortress gate.

Image
And tries to lift the portcullis!

Image
The defenders aren't too happy about this,

Image
And Cedric is stabbed, knocking him back and costing a HP. 1 remains.

Image
Cedric picks himself up and grabs his weapons as the other Bull Knight runs over to him.

Black Knights - Degener@te

Image
The crossbowman fires nearly point blank at the winged menace right above him.

Image
And manages to kill it with some pretty good dice rolls.

Image
These two combine fire and kill the necromancer!

Image
And the fourth archer manages to kill the other necromancer! Hussah!

Image
The skirmish over here goes nowhere.

Image
But these two get the idea to leap down onto their foes. Wait, what??? After rolling several critical success in a row, the swordsman slides down the ladder, smashing into the skeleton trying to climb up, disrupting it and knocking it aside.

Image
He then stabs another skeleton, rekilling it.

Image
His partner merely jumps down and guts the other skeleton, but dealt a ton of damage, so...

Image
He smashes the skeleton into the castle wall, obliterating it.

Image
These four prepare to murder the first living thing that comes over the wall.

Image
And these three form a phalanx at the front gate.

Image
The halberdier prepares to attack the first enemy that comes over the wall, and the final reserve swordsman prepares to reinforce the walls.

Uruk-hai - Scribonius

Image
The hero and other archer fire over the walls,

Image
And manage to kill a halberdier outright!

Image
A Uruk-hai manages to scale the wall, and is promptly stabbed in the crotch.

Image
But, due to the halberdier dying, the right side is completely open. So, I rolled a die when each Uruk-hai climbed up the walls. On a good roll, they were able to sneak past the defenders without triggering their response. The orc with the hair successfully managed to sneak past.

Image
He goes over to the halberdier's corpse.

Image
And the last two Uruk-hai climb the ladder.

Undead - Falk

Image
The troll makes it over to the Uruk-hai.

Image
He starts talking to the archer. "You grab sword, I throw you!"

Image
The archer decides to listen.

Image
The troll then picks him up...

Image
And heaves!

Image
Wheeeeeeeeee!

Image
"bonk'

Image
Having already used his action, the orc just positions himself next to his brethern.

Image
The crossbow-skeletons on top of the siege tower finally kill the enemy crossbowman.

Image
The skeleton with the axe tries to attack, gets blocked, and stabbed for his efforts. He falls below.

Image
The sword-armed skeleton attacks, but ends up missing.

Image
Tired of watching incompetence, this greenskin swings himself down the ladder.

Image
And charges into the fray!

Image
He ends up chopping the spearman's hand off, before stabbing him in the gut. Now that's how you kill people!

Image
The spearman's corpse joins his friends below.

Image
The skeletons climbing the ladder make it all the way up, and are about to overrun the defenders.

Image
This crossbow-skeleton moves over to get a clear shot... and misses.

Image
The mounted skeleton rides over towards the Fortress gate.

Image
The Possessed Knight climbs up the ladder, triggering the knight's response. However, the knight inflicted too little damage.

Image
The Knight then swings it's massive hammer into the Black Knight, crushing him against the tower wall.

Image
Yeah, he's dead.

Image
But... the swordsman right next to it runs over and stabs it in the back for massive damage. "No! Matthew!"

Image
The hollow shell of lifeless armor clatters down the wall.

Image
More skeletons scale the wall. The halberdier swings at one, but misses.

Image
The wraith floats over towards the Demon-hero.

Image
The siege machine aims at the bad-asses who jumped off the walls, and if it weren't for the skeletal meatshield, it would have killed the swordsman. Man, these guys are lucky.

Lillian Windstrider - Bragallot

Image
Lillian moves over to help the outnumbered swordsman on the wall.

Image
She fires a piercing arrow at the skeletons running across the ramp. Sadly, only one skeleton dies, as the armor on the next skeleton saved him.

Image
She then pulls out her Elven dagger.

Image
And stabs the skeleton right in front of her.

Secret Faction Unlocked! Sir John Lannister - controlled by me

Image
Having dealt with the skeletons in the forest, Sir John was making his way back to the Dunlan Fortress, where he was originally deployed from.

Image
He quickly scans the battlefield. Hm, this area seems under control.

Image
And he sees a troll and some Uruk-hai over here!

Image
Having made a decision, Sir John gallops over towards the Uruk-hai, mere inches away from the Uruk-hai hero.

Secret Faction Unlocked! Easterlings - commanded by Scribonius

Image
A shrill horn blast fills the air for a moment... The Easterlings has arrived!

(Due to most of Scribonius's troops being massacred, he has received reinforcements.)

Image
There are four men riding the Oliphant, three archers and one driver.

Image
Additionally, there are two Easterlings armed with daggers and throwing spears walking next to the Oliphant.

Image
Note: all of the archers also have swords they can equip whenever. Also, since it isn't obvious these guys spawn in the beige carpet right behind where the Uruk-hai originally spawned.

Who needs walls when you can just slide down the ladders and kill your enemies? :D
