The Siege of the Dunlan Fortress - Turn 4

Post by Joshua » Thu Aug 12, 2021 11:04 pm

This has been the most confusing turn yet!

Undead - Falk

Image
Having no more allies to throw, the troll goes over to the Fortress and starts punching it.

Image
Well, well, well. It seems the troll has discovered a secret escape door!

Image
He moves back in order to allow friendly troops to climb through the passage.

Image
A better look at the passage.

Image
The Demon-hero walks over to a open spot of the battlefield.

Image
And calls upon the forces of evil to resurrect some friendly units.

Image
Success! The necromancer in front of him stirs back to life.

Image
As does the Skeletal Angel.

Image
And an Uruk-hai rises to fight once again.

Image
He stands up and grabs his halberd.

Image
The Skeletal Angel flies to the top of the tower.

Image
The necromancer immediately starts resurrecting more skeletons.

Image
And is successful once again.

Image
The newly-revived skeleton walks over towards the ladder.

Image
This archer once again tries to hit it's target.

Image
And fails so hard it ends up falling on it's face.

Image
This skeleton gets up from being kicked off the ladder it was climbing.

Image
And tries to attack the swordsman who kicked him off. He doesn't deal enough damage, though.

Image
The greenskin attacks the Black Knight, but the swordsman still had an action left, so he strikes, and doesn't deal enough damage.

Image
The greenskin attacks, and although the sword is parried, dealt massive damage, so...

Image
The swordsman falls off the wall due to the sheer force of the attack.

Image
The armored skelly attacks Lillian, but her armor holds.

Image
The mounted skeleton rides over to the bad-asses.

Image
'dink' "Was that supposed to kill me? Pathetic."

Image
This skeleton attacks the Black Knight, and once again, fails to beat his armor.

Image
Another armored skeleton scales the wall, but can't go far since the wall is occupied.

Image
The siege machine fires, and ends up tripping an orc! He's only disrupted, however.

Image
"Hey! Watch where you aim that!"

Black Knights - Degener@te

Image
The Garrison Commander gets a brilliant idea.

Image
No one will stop him, as he swiftly executes the distracted orc.

Image
See, dead.

Image
The Commander picks up a barrel full of ale.

Image
And throws it across the courtyard.

Image
'smash!' It crashes into the skeleton on the wall, disrupting him.

Image
The barrel falls down, leaving the skeleton very drunk.

Image
It also manages to knock the armored skelly off the wall. He survives impact damage, however.

Image
The Commander then picks up a spare torch...

Image
And chucks it!

Image
It lands right on target! The skeleton bursts into flames.

Image
The skeleton burns away, leaving a nice fire hazard in it's place. (also, the ladder and the skeleton climbing it have caught fire and will start burning.)

Image
The halberdier changes his position in order to better protect the wall.

Image
This halberdier attacks the greenskin on the wall. After rolling a critical success,

Image
This is what he rolls for damage!!!

Image
Suffice to say, the orc didn't stand a chance.

Image
This swordsman somehow misses an enemy who's disrupted and defenceless.

Image
This one does not. Scratch one more undead.

Image
Bad-ass #2 throws his spear into the mounted skeleton, killing it.

Image
They then use the rest of their movement to climb back into the Fortress, destroying the ladder in the process.

Image
This archer misses his shot.

Image
But the crossbowman quickly puts an end to the necromancer.

Image
The previously disrupted swordsman climbs back up onto the wall.

Bull Knights - my brother

Image
The catapult is launched...

Image
And it hits right underneath where the archers are. So close!

Image
Cedric walks over to his dead soldier and kicks him. "Get up! You'll be fine!" Unfortunately, Cedric's words and actions have no effect on the corpse.

Image
The other Bull Knight starts climbing up the ladder.

Lillian Windstrider - Bragallot

Image
Lillian slits the armored skeleton's neck.

Image
She then pulls out her bow before realizing that there's not enough clumped-up enemies to use multiple arrows on.

Sir John Lannister - Me

Image
Sir Lannister keeps galloping forward. The Uruk-hai hero fails his bail roll and is immediately trodden under hoof.

Image
Sir Lannister keeps riding as he readies his halberd.

Image
He cuts the troll's arm completely off as he rides by.

Image
Killing the troll.

Image
Sir John rides over towards the siege tower.

Uruk-hai and Easterlings - Scribonius

Image
Another orc scales the Fortress walls.

Image
And is quickly thrown back off.

Image
However, both Black Knights used their action to kill the first orc, so an Uruk-hai is able to climb all the way up into the Fortress. He attacks the halberdier, but his armor saves him.

Image
The final Uruk-hai climbs up the ladder.

Image
With a crack of the whip and a roar, the Oliphant starts chasing after Sir John.

Image
One of the crossbowmen fires upon the Garrision Commander, but fails to hurt him.

Image
These two tag along as best they can.

Gotta say, those black armour pieces are the best thing that second wave of KK II sets produced.

Actually, they first appeared in the Viking sets a year earlier, in the "Viking Warrior challenges the Fenris Wolf" set, which came out in 2005.

Yeah, still they're the best thing in those KK II sets though (which is not saying much, it was the poorest wave of Castle sets ever probably).

I agree, that wave was a disaster.
