The Siege of the Dunlan Fortress - Turn 7 and Epilouge

Post by Joshua » Mon Sep 06, 2021 9:49 am

The final turn!

Undead - Falk (NPC)

Image
The Angel attacks the bearded swordsman, but doesn't kill him.

Image
It then soars up above the carnage.

Image
These two try to kill the yellow knight, but fall short.

Image
The crossbow skelly fails to kill the charging red knight, while the armored skeleton tries to attacks the leader's horse but misses.

Image
The two unarmed greenskins continue to run towards the action.

Black Knights - Degener@te (NPC)

Image
The crossbowman gets a brilliant idea.

Image
He runs down and opens the portcullis.

Image
Noticing the open portcullis, the knights start galloping into the fortress, trampling the two Undead out in front, in order to escape the Oliphant.

Image
The heavy cavalry squeezes into the already crowded fortress.

Image
Sir Lannister rides in as well.

Image
The portcullis then shuts behind them.

Now, since all the Undead failed to attack and there are no more attackers in the Fortress, the defenders can just wait in the Fortress and pick off the attackers one by one. Thus, the siege has been a failure. The Dunlan Fortress has been defended from the Forces of Darkness.

Image
The few remaining Undead forces retreat from the battlefield or are killed.

Image
Realizing it would be suicide to try to attack into the fortress, the Easterlings decide to turn and make a tactical withdraw.

Faction Stats:

Black Knights:
Hero HP: 0/2 Dead
KIA: 13
Kills: 34

Lillian Windstrider:
HP: 2/2
Kills: 6

Sir John Lannister:
HP: 2/2
Kills: 3

Undead:
Hero HP: 0/2 Dead
Troll HP: 0/3 Dead
KIA: 30
Kills: 8

Bull Knights:
Hero HP: 0/2 Dead
KIA: 2
Kills: 1 + 1 friendly fire

Uruk-hai + Easternlings:
Hero HP: 0/2 Dead
Oliphant HP: 4/4

Thanks everyone for playing! This was a blast to host and I hope it came to a decent end, I debated whether to let the attackers go for broke, or have the cavalry try to attack the Oliphant.

Epilogue

Image
"All of you have proven your worth as excellent soldiers. This fortress would not be standing if it weren't for you."

Image
"Miss Windstrider, we are extremely grateful for your assistance in holding off the Undead."

"You're welcome. It's rather fortunate I was passing by when I did."

Image
"Well, is he dead?"

Image
"Yes, he is."

"Well, his sacrifice will not be in vain. We must send word of this to the King, immediately!"

Somewhere:

Image
???: "Well?"

Image
Skeleton: Reports have come in: the siege has ended in failure. The Demon was killed, and almost all of our forces were slain.

???: "This is very upsetting news. First a small squad of Black Knights kill a raiding party, even after the necromancer summons a abomination from Hell! Now this! 'more calmly' Failure is not an option going forward. Is this clear?"

I wish I could say to expect more in the near future, but with school started I'm afraid this story will have to go on hold for a while.

A great, classic fantasy battle. :tiger: Very intense. Kudos to the black knights who played very cleverly, picking off the necromancers was key.

I feel your pain with school starting up again (I'm a teacher  ), my battle will continue as well though... soon...

Oops! almost forgot to add this part of the epilogue:

Image
The last remaining Bull Knight runs over to the still-burning Cedric.

Image
He quickly smothers the flames and turns Cedric over...

Image
Oooh. He's got a face like well-done bacon.

Image
The Bull Knight carries the half-dead body of his leader away from the battlefield.
