(Don't) Kick the Turtle

Somewhere in the galactic southwest...
Bleak Company Grunt: "Sir, we have not been able to locate the monument!"
Bleak Company Captain: "Got Damn It! We don't have much time before the locals get curious. I want that monument found, and that turtle placed!"
Bleak Company Mechanik: "I've found it on this butte!"
The Mechanik installs the turtle.
Then he installs an imposing tripod above it.
CHESTER:
Mechanik: "You guard the turtle"
CHESTER:
Captain: "Listen up, sprinkles! I don't know what the fuck that turtle does but we're getting paid to make sure no one kicks it off this butte. So that's what we're going to do, or my name isn't Bleak Company Captain!"
Bleak Company has gained the attention of the locals. Who is here to defend the turtle, and who is here to kick it?
