Turn 0
On the planet Damanhur, an outpost of the Jaffa...



Something is moving under the sand.


Pillars of bone begin to rise from the dunes


Some of the nearby guards move closer to investigate, just as the structure fully emerges.


Before the Jaffa can do anything, the portal activates.
"Halt! Who dares enter the kingdom of Ra uninvited?"
Instead of an answer, they get a shotgun blast to the face.


The other Guards open fire on the invaders, as more demons arrive through the portal.


The jaffa are quickly overwhealmed and killed.


Inpu: "Attention Invaders. You stand before the temple of Inpu, First Prime of Lord Ra. You have one chance to swear your allegiance to out god and we will forgive your transgressions. Otherwise you will be annihilated."


Davoth: "Oh that is not going to happen. Our Master wants you to stay out of his business. And I, Davoth, will ensure that you do."

Turn 1

Jaffa

Inpu jumps down from his temple to join his Horus Guards in battle


The two probes move forward, opening fire on the demonic infantery.
The first one shoots at the Imps. But...
It's first cannon immediately jams. The other one can land some hits, but one Imp jumps out of the way and one takes cover behind another one. Finally an Imp gets hit and even takes a Crit.
But...


even with three dice, the Probe doesn't do enough damage to kill the Imp.
to add insult to injury (or lack thereof), the weapon jams immediately after that.


At least the other probe does better. it completely pulverises one of the demonic troopers and manages to down a second one.


It would have hit a third one, but by some miracle this trooper manages to jump far enough out of the way to hide behind the portal.



Next, the Death Tank moves up and fires its weapons at the demons.


It's main weapons effortlessly pierce through the armor of one of the Arachnotrons, while its turret targets the Marauder. It seems, however, that rapid fire guns aren't too reliable at the moment, so the marauder easily shrugs off the ridiculously low damage.


The jaffa Guards charge to the front. they want to help whittle down the demon minifigs. Inpu and one of his Horus Guards aren't close enough to help, but the three front Horus Guards are in range to shoot at the Imps.


This Imp finally runs out of luck. After somehow tanking the Probe, it gets killed by the Jaffa.


On the other side of the battlefield, the Jaffa Guards try to take out the remaining Troopers.
Now, were this XCom, this would probably miss and it would be the funniest thing ever.


Sadly (for the demons), this is not XCom. This. is. BRIKWARS!


the other Guards shoot at the Sniper, but he manages to dodge behind the Blood Pillar.


Inpu: "Hey, you oversized Goat! Who put that other guy in charge? He even needs a Mechsuit to even put up a fight. Are you really going to follow a leader that weak?"


Cyberdemon: "The fuck is that guy on about? Does he think I'm fucking stupid?"
[Feat Failed]


Enraged, the Cyberdemon runs toward Inpu. He doesn't make it very far so he decides that kicking the tank has to be enough to teach the jaffa Prime a lesson.
Maybe it would have been enough.
Had he not rolled double 1s for damage.


Demons

The Marauder takes control over the Imps and they run towards the pyramid.


The Cyberdemon, meanwhile, decides that if the tank doesn't want to get trampled to death, it will have to go another way.


"Happy new year!"
The explosion deals 2" of size damage to the tank and Vaporizes three of the nearby Jaffa Guards.


A fourth one is gunned down by the Sniper-Trooper.
The remaining Arachnotron tries to Dakka down the probe, but even with its very high weapon skill, it somehow manages to miss twice and then jam its Plasma cannon.


The other Probe is taking fire from the Imps, but only one of the eight fireballs makes it through the shields - and is promptly blocked by the probe's armor.


"Hello Birdies. Remember the intro?"


Marauder does Marauder things and fires his shotgun at the Horus Guards.
I think he hits.


Two get shredded in the blast, the third one survives thanks to his armor, his distance from the Marauder and the two dying Guards in front of him. Inpu and the final Guard luckily are far enough away to not get blasted.


Davoth, not being close enough to whack Inpu with his sword, instead decides to put a few more shots into the Death Tank. He actually manages to deal another inch of size damage to it, bringing the tank down to half health.


Secret Faction

"Mylord, the gate is activating!"
"Ah, that must be my reinforcements."


Doesn't look like it. for some reason, a computer console gets thrown through the portal.


And then...
Studland arrives! The interdimensional Highway has linked up with the Jaffa's Stargate and a group of Specialists make it through to explore and secure this new world.
Lucivyr: "Oh hey, I think I know that guy with the big sword"
Vinnie: "Friends of yours?"
Lucivyr: "Nah. Not really."
Vinnie: "Good to know. Alright, everyone, you know the drill. Find something to power the Highway and then let's get out of here!"


Overwatch

Turn 2

Jaffa

Every Machine Gun available to the Jaffa opens fire on the Cyberdemon. the first volley completely misses. The second volley however...


Crits. A lot. Even his deflection can't save the Cyberdemon from the massive amount of damage the Brobes and tank dish out against him.



This Jaffa does, what he does best. Shooting people point blank range in the face.


He's not very good at it, only managing to shoot the Ballista out of the Sniper's hand.


The tank continues shooting his big cannons at Spiders.


And the second Arachnotron also goes boom.


"You demons are no match for our gods. Now, with the power of Ra, witness the sun itself coming down to destroy you!"


"Oh come on..."


"That's got to be cheating."
[Feat success]



"Fuck this, I'm not dying to this cowardly attempt of shooting me from Orbit. You! Go, take care of it."


He throws the nearest Imp straight up into the oncoming barrage.


A distant explosion lights up the sky.


Inpu's remaining Horus Guards finally manage to end the Marauder's Shotgun-Rampage.


Demons
The Demon Trooper that spent the last turn running around the battlefield now finally makes it to the front and opens fire on Inpu and the horus Guards - only to have his gun immediately jam.


The imps move closer. one climbs onto the Death Tank to get a better shot at the Horus Guard beneath him and torches the jaffa.


The other two Imps... are less capable and don't deal enough damage to the remaining guard to kill it.


Davoth walks up to the tank. he wants to finish what the Cyber started. luckily, the tank is big enough to grant him a bonus to hit it, otherwise he would've missed.


His damage isn't great, but at least he scrapes of an additional Ü of health. Tank down to 2"


"This is all not going to plan... but it doesn't matter. All your souls are belong to us"


The souls of the dead jaffa rise from their bodies, fly into the air and... disappear.
"Wait, that wasn't supposed to happen! Hello? Satan? Anyone home? Where are my reinforcements for that?"
[Feat failed]



Studland

SAM, Studland's Sniper-robot, seizes the opportunity to shoot Davoth in the back.


Luckily for the Dark Lord, his Trooper is a bit more attentive than himself and he sprints around the battlefield one last time.



Greeblo sends out his drone to investigate the demonic Portal. Could this be used to improve the highway...?
(sadly, my phone really didn't want to focus on the drone, so I apologize for the poor quality here)


Gus finally gets a chance to test out his new Laser Gauntlets. A lot of Crits are rolled and Inpu would have been incinerated, were it not for his final Horus Guard redshirting in, pushing him off the platform and taking the Laser-fire instead.
The Imps don't have anyone who could redshirt for them and one gets vaporized. Luckily for the other, it seems that Gus' batteries are running low and he's spared from the barrage.


Frank moves up next to Gus to support him. One shot from his pistol isn't enough to kill the Imp, but it does send him flying.


"Whew, that was a close one."


"Argh! Get this thing off of me!"


Kim dashes towards the Cyberdemon's body and draws her energy blade.
"Alright, let's see what made you tick..."
She starts cutting through the Cyberdemon's flesh and cybernetics, looking for a power source that Greeblo can use for the Highway.


Lucivyr runs toward the nearby probe, channeling infernal magic has he gets close.


A burst of hellfire catapults him into the air...


... and onto the Probe.


"Yo, Davoth! Catch!"
He throws his glaive at the Mech's arm, successfully seperating the hand carrying Davoth's giant sword.
"You little...!"


"Hey, could you guys watch out what you're doing up there? You nearly hit me with that!"
"Sorry!"


"Alright, let's see if we can distract the big guy further..."


Looks like he got the wrong channel though and instead of whatever he was trying to send, Doom music starts playing inside Davoth's cockpit, enraging him further.
[Feat failed]


He runs towards Lucivyr and punches him with his Mech's remaining hand, sending the Studlander flying off the probe.


Luckily, it's not a very high fall and Lucivyr survives the drop.


Overwatch

Turn 3

Jaffa

Having finally run out of Arachnotrons, the Death tank opens fire on the nearby studlanders. Rarely have I seen aim this bad. Frank didn't even have to activate his shield.


"Let's try that again"


The Demonic Sniper rushes into cover as he hears the Jaffa behind him, barely making it to the portal, out of harms way.


"Get off me, you monster!"


"And DIE!"


Inpu fails to hurt the imp.


"What is wrong with this thing?"


"Studlanders! Leave this world, or the power of Ra shall destroy you! Watch, as the Sun melts your gear!"


"My gear seems fine to me."
[Feat failed]


Miraculously, THIS is Inpu's redshirting roll.


The single surviving Jaffa Guard on the other side of the battle field notices that his master is in danger.


he sprints across the battlefield


arriving just in time to leap into Gus' Laser Blast.


The two Probes attack the portal, somehow shooting even worse than the tank before them. three of their guns overheat after their first shot. Only a single cannon manages to get out a few shots - and it's actually enough to damage the portal. 2 damage done, 6 to go. With how good everyone is at shooting, this might be a long one.



Demons

Davoth takes a look around the battlefield.
"This isn't going to plan at all... we're losing... Satan doesn't even want to support us anymore..."


He opens up his Mech Suit and climbs out. While sill pondering the carnage around him, he makes his way towards Inpu.


"This is enough for me. I want to join you guys instead."


"What?"


"What?"


"WHAT? That traitorous little bitch! Grazek! You're up! bring that traitor to me! I don't care what shape he's in but I'd like a word with him."


Hellfire burns through the sand near the pyramid.


Slowly, a new Hell Portal begins to rise from the sand.




And out crawls...



Another Cyberdemon!
"DAVOTH! GET OVER HERE! SATAN WANTS A WORD WITH YOU!"


"Ah, fuck."



Studland

While analysing the Portal, Greeblo's drone gets overwhealmed by the hellish energies emitted from the gate. It is overtaken by the demons.



The drone wastes no time to go against its former masters, shooting at Kim. It does, however, waste ammo and doesn't do significant damage.


SAM fires again, this time at Inpu.


The Prime is out of redshirts. Luckily for him, SAM's damage roll was dogshit. Unfortunately, his armor roll was even worse he gets mortally wounded.


Gus and Frank climb onto the Death Tank, trying to finish it off and steal its power source.


The pilot doesn't seem to impressed by their attempt.


Kim, meanwhile, ignores the Drone trying to murder her. She's here to find the Cyber's power source and she won't be stopped by some backstabbing.


"Hey Captain! I think I found something!"


With the Power Cell in hand, she makes her way back to the Stargate.


Lucivyr gets back up.
"Ouch... Should have stayed for the Loot-a-Palooza..."


"Oh, that looks useful"


he picks up Davoth's sword with his magic and yeets it at the tank.


He doesn't yeet it very far though.
"Hey, watch out! Whose side are you on?"


Greeblo runs toward Kim to receive the Power Cell and bring it back to the Interdimensional Highway Terminal.



"Alright, lets see how this thing works... can I reach someone to help us?"


Vinnie manages to get the Stargate back online.


And out step two Kull Warriors to support the Jaffa.
"Lord Anubis sends his regards"

Overwatch

Turn 4

Jaffa

Now that they don't have to bother with Davoth anymore, the remaining Jaffa attempt to stop Studland from taking over the Stargate.
The first Probe fires at Lucivyr and Kim, but only manages to destroy the corrupted Drone.


The Kull Warriors are a bit more successfull, killing SAM. Vinnie however evades their barage by doing a flip over one of them and going into cover behind the Stargate.



The second Probe tries to remove the Studlanders from the tank. Gus doesn't manage to get his shield up in time and is shot down. Gus survives - barely.


For some reason the Death Tank Pilot believes that it's a good idea to try and ram Grazek. Sadly, at this distance he can't build up a lot of momentum and Grazek easily resists.



Davoth's Demons

Davoth now climbs onto the tank too.
"Hey Grazek, have I ever told you about the Conformity Gate Theory?"
"THE WHAT NOW?"
Davoth starts explaining to a very disinterested looking Grazek.


On the other side of the battlefield, Davoth's Mech gets up. He has activated it remotely and is planning to use it to sneak up on the Cyberdemon!


The remote-controlled Mech starts running towards its target, as sneakily as a giant red demon mech can.


However, it trips over its own sword on the way there.
[Feat failed]


"ah, fuck."
"WELL THIS WAS DISAPPOINTING."


The remaining Imps and the Trooper fire at Grazek, but roll poorly and his armor deflects the damage.


Studland

Gus hasn't given up on trying to kill the tank yet. One of his Laser cannons has, though. and the other one isn't enough to beat the tank's armor.



"Poor little robot. You will be missed..."
While Kim is sad about the destruction of Greeblo's drone, she is glad that at least she didn't have to be the one to take it out.


Instead, she can now avenge the other little robot, aka SAM, by shooting at the Kull warriors. One gets hurt by her Shotgun blast, the other just shrugs it off.


Lucivyr sees an opportunity and sneaks toward the downed demon mech.


"If Davoth doesn't want to ride this thing anymore, don't mind if I do."


He makes his way back to the portal to bring back the Mech and its power source to Greeblo. While he's there, he also grabs the mortally wounded Frank.


Greeblo meanwhile connects the Cyberdemon's power cell to the Dimensional Highway Device


Once again, the Stargate is activated, connecting to Studland's existing portal network.


Vinnie climbs on top of it and pulls out his radio one more time.
"Yo, Satan! Can you hear me? Call of your giant goat! This clearly is Studland territory now"


"I couldn't care less about your Highway. My warriors are here to settle a debt. With Davoth, and with the Jaffa. Stay out of Grazek's way and maybe he'll ignore you long enough for you to build your little highway."
[Feat successfull-ish?]


"Good enough for me. Alright everyone, this is Studland territory. Everyone who's not a Studlander, please leave the work site. And to all Studlanders: get back here, mission done, connection secured. let command figure out the rest."


Grazek

"NOW TO YOU, LITTLE BIRD-MAN..."


Grazek effortlessly cleaves through the tank, removing its last two inches of health and blowing the vehicle up. its "passengers" get flung in all directions.



As does its power source, which lands close to Gus.


"ow... Not my day..."



"THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AND YOUR ALLIES WHEN YOU BETRAY US, DAVOTH!"
He walks past the wreckage and the Dark Lord, firing a volley of rockets at the Kull warriors. The one that got damaged by Kim earlier gets killed by the barrage.



Overwatch

Turn 5 - Finale

Jaffa

it is a small target, but the two probes decide to go for the Mech's heart.


they actually manage to hit the power core. It goes up in flames and the Mech is disabled.



The surviving Kull warrior attempts to stop Studland's sabotage of the Stargate by shooting at Greeblo. He hurts the engineer, but doesn't manage to kill him.



Davoth's Demons

Davoth pulls out a remote.


"For the Honor"


even though it doesn't have power anmore, the Mech's chassis opens up.


A small device rises from its chest.


"Oh no"


Sadly I don't have enough orange parts to make a big explosion, so you'll have to take this microscale one.


Just kidding.


Lucivyr and one of the Probes are incinerated in the blast, the other Probe takes damage but survives thatnks to its shields. Grazek and Gus are luckily far enough away to not take any noteworthy damage.


Studland

"Phew, that was close"


"Oh hey, that power cell made it. I should bring it to Greeblo."


"This is a restricted area! Remove yourself or be removed!"
Vinnie bashes the Kull warrior with his staff, sending him flying through the portal. He's someone else's problem now.
"Anyone else trespassing on this worksite will be fined. So stay away!"


Gus gets the second power source to Greeblo, who combines it with the first to make the Highway even more stable.


Grazek

A blast from the Cyberdemon's Railgun punches through the remaining Jaffa Probe.



"AND NOW THE TWO OF US ARE GOING HOME TO HAVE A CHAT WITH SATAN..."
"Put me down!"


Grazek doesn't listen to him. He just strolls back through the debris and towards his Portal, taking the traitorous Dark lord with him.


Final Overwatch
A few demons are still around and Studland has secured the Highway Portal. Other than that everything's pretty much cleaned up.

Very well performed battle in size and complexity! Good pictures, yet sometimes a bit cluttered. I especially love the use of the miniature builds here. Fun writing overall and good connection to current events. Curious how the story unveils further.
