Rule #5, seriously what right does pes have to keep coming up with the forum battle rules? If YOU don't like a battle do not join, 'simples'

how about no more rules, or just forced decisions that should be common sense anyway.

I personally LIKE Rule 5. You know how many people say "Yea, sign up for my battle with no pictures!" and then two weeks later they say that the battlefield was destroyed?

Also, some people's pictures are utter crap in forum wars, and it really retracts from it. I don't know why ANYONE signs up for battles if they can't see pictures. I wouldn't want to have to do an entire battle with my army if I can't see what's going on.

i think there should be no rules and people should use common sense to decide good or bad. i also think that if you think a battle i bad, you can just avoid it instead of complaining about it.

I agree with the overall concept of what Irdofbricks is saying there, although I could nitpick at details until the end of time (that's beside the point).

Ther are obviously a handful of people who could care less about the quality of photo involved, or the quality of storyline, or LEGOcraft, or whatever else. They are perfectly happy to play in what are generally misconceived as "bad" forum battles, and therefore there should be no rules in specific to restrict them.

Hell, I think I should have the right to run a forum battle WITHOUT pictures (or even without LEGO entirely perhaps). For one thing, it'd make the whole running of a forum battle way easier, and for another, it'd dissipate most of what constitutes the aforementioned "bad"ness in many forum battles.

And besides; what are forum battles for in the first place? They were made to be played; therefore if people PLAY them, there's obviously nothing wrong, and therefore rules that bug a certain person's self conscious are posted because they feel like they have dominion over an idea JUST BECAUSE THEY CREATED IT should not exist, nor even be a problem at all.

forum battles are not even very interesting. all you do is send in orders. these are rarely even very detailed becuse you usually can't see the area in detail from every angle. so most of them suck.

The host can make it exciting if they do things well. Some funny one liners or cool story telling and not being an anal retentive rules twat go a long way to making a game work IMO. The photo thing is off putting and I would avoid a poorly illustrated battle over a battle where someone knows how to take photo's. The Lego scenery isn't an issue. It's what they could do with the time allowed or whatever. I've enjoyed most of the forum games I've played and watched.

People dropping in just to shit all over your effort is aggravating. Especially when the ones who do this contribute nothing but their posts of pish. I don't recall them posting any Lego since I've been here. This is not a Lego site where sometimes Trolling happen. It's a Troll site where sometimes Lego happens.

For instance, Almighty Benny's "Bomb" forum battle was quite well executed. Hell, even a few of the not-so-nicely photographed battles had some great moments in them.

You should not strive to play forum battles for their quality; you should play them because it's BrikWars, and because (if the creator carries through), some of them will have really awesome, plot-twisting turnouts. In my opinion, a Forum Battles in which the pictures are pretty bad but the plot is excellent, well thought-out, and executed is still a game well worth taking part in.

I think it's a good rule for "conventional" forum battles -- where the host builds the field and units with no input from others, and then just starts the game. If you're playing this kind of battle, I really don't see why you absolutely HAVE TO start signups before you finish the field and take a picture of it. Could someone enlighten me, please?

However, as the people on this thread have shown there are plenty of good battle types that need input from players before the start of the game -- Olothontor's Abyssal Maw is a good example, and Magic Soap's forum battle (where he wanted us to choose between a BrikQuest and a Moonbase battle) is another. We should amend the rule to make an exception for these games.
