so I've been thinking, that in most games, when someone attacks you, you don't have to wait to attack them back. and if a team move, and you have some sort of imagery to see where their going, you can adapt and set traps. so i was thinking, if you had three teams on a really big battlefield, one team has a UAV for recon, one has higher armor levels/more troops, and one has more weapons/more powerful weapons, and you gave the team with the UAV the ability to take a "mini-turn" to adapt to what they see they other teams doing, and when any two teams engage in combat the team that was attacked can take a "mini-turn" to take cover and what-not.
open to comments and suggestions.

Giveing all teams "reaction" or "mini" turns to react to enermys in range or to dodge out the way of something might work.
i've used an idea like this but it was where a Recon drone helicopter could attack at any time (still once per turn though).
with your idea turns might be like this?
Team1; main turn
Team2;mini turn
Team3;mini turn
T2;main turn
T1;mini turn
T3;mini turn
T3;main turn
T1;mini turn
T2;mini turn
I guess for the main turn you can do movement and firing orders, then in miniturns it could be retaliation fire and takeing cover(Maybe they could jump behind cover that's less that 1inch away?).

Ducking for cover is always allowed in the rules, and retaliation fire can be anticipated and set up beforehand.

In forum battles I have participated in, I have most likely used a counter in the form of reaction. Remember also, attack is not always the best thing to do. I still await the player who will build something in a battle.

maybe you could instead just have the vehicles that can take miniturns, instead of whole teams. it could be like this
COST: 4cp
USE: at any point throughout the round, this fig/vehicle/thing can take 2 extra actions. these can be used between turns, during the players turn, or during the opponets turn.
that way, it is a template that can be added to anything without having to make whole turns to encompass them.

I had it free but limited to certain types, recon aircraft could only carry one light armament but allow artillary to fire on anything in range.

Just because I like mixing rule sets together...
Take a look at Chain Reaction, by Two Hour Wargame. It uses a "reaction system" instead of the "I go, you go" that normal wargames use.

@tahthing: yes, you are correct in the one main two mini turns.
@Massam: i didnt mean just taking cover and firing back, it was just the first thing to come to mind.
@magic soap: yes, you could build something if you had enough pieces or a hero made a heroic feat asking for the parts. you could assembly it if it is a basic wall with one fig or an elaborate wall with 10 figs or such.
@lrdofbricks: well, i mean, it kinda makes sense, but the idea is to have troops react to someone elses move or if he/she is attacked.

In my forum battle I let the players post their orders in the thread rather than send them by PM. The orders that were posted first were carried out first, then the second, and so on. That way, players could react to the actions of their opponents.

I like the idea but I find that it is still inhibited by what gets every forum battle, you have to PM the orders. This makes reaction time a massive pain in the neck and if you do these turns with in turns you end of with entire fights happening within just the PM'ing.
I think the whole concept of forum battles needs to be reworked, maybe do something like having battle X set for lets say 3:00 PM EST and then everyone gets on there PC and at that time and you send the messages real time via IM instead of doing PM. This would allow for battles to go a lot quicker and people get more involved with the battle. Also since Brik Wars takes hours most times you can have several of these "IM sessions" and update each session in the forums like you would update each turn.
(Sorry for any grammatical errors or spelling errors this is just an idea and one which I did not have time to go back and edit for errors.)

You already have the ability of taking cover and shooting the enemy to shreds when they walk around the corner in your opponent's turn. It's called a response action.
Somebody probably already said that

Of course it is.
I had a game based off that, it was cover heavy and players would be able to move out of cover in their turn, use the reaction to shoot someone, and dive behind again, it didnt help when their target was a jetpacked Stazi Normtrooper who immediatley blocked the bullet (with a sheild!) flew up to them and chainsawed them in half.
My point is, abusing cover results is turtling, Turtling is ofen associated with anorakism, and Stazis hate anoraks.

My army has the best answer to turtles! Heavy-Anti-Cover-Killer-Emergency-Roomba, or HACKER. It basically a [/url=
http://www.irobot.com/uk/home_robots.cfm[url] with explosives stuck on it.
It roams around and hovers the blood off the field untill it hits something... BOOM, cover gone.
