Pre-story, aftermath of 'Desperate Alliances':

The Bulls, victorious, pushed into Imperial territories. Knight-Marshal Cales went missing and was presumed dead. Phineus raised an army from the ruins and took it with him as he disappeared again to plot his next move before Garth could stop him. Sir Garth returned to Kerrat.

The Dwellers, mostly left leaderless, were given back their ancient territories and place in the Kingdom, their heroic deeds acknowledged.

The Empire accused the King of a lack of aid after their defeat. Emperor Deverre made peace with the Bulls, giving them land grants without the King's permission, then declared his independence from the King, hoping to use the Bulls as a shield. The Bulls however saw they were simply being used and were persuaded by the King to destroy the Empire. The powerhungry Emperor Deverre and his family were executed and put on display.

During this struggle, Phineus' undead overran the border fortress of Starkeep. Few Starcapes survived, many were converted into the undead. Queen Lara created a magical barrier to stop the undead from spilling forth into the Kingdom from Starkeep. The border fortress of Riverbreed was then garrisoned by Bull and Dweller forces.

The Water Demons terrorised the Kingdom for months, until the King managed to gain an audience with Fishstache and learned that the Water Demons were sent to prepare the invasion of a great nation that had conquered countless worlds, including that of the Water Demons, already: the Falx Republic. The King managed to persuade Fishstache that fighting against the Falx Republic would be the much more difficult, and therefore honourable battle, and converted them to his side.

Thus, the Kingdom was stronger than ever, but the peace that lingered was an uneasy one, as both the fear of the threat of this unknown Falx Republic loomed over it.

"Open the gates!"

Early that morning, Valarius, a Bull ranger, returned to the castle of Riverbreed with haste, bearing ill news.

Valarius: "It's the undead!"

"CLOSE the gates!"

Image

He reported directly to Angrix, ex-chieftain of the Bull Army and now General of the Bull Foederati of Riverbreed. Phineus and his undead army had finally reappeared after a full year and were heading for the Kingdom.

Image

The impending attack couldn't have come at a worse time than this: a royal envoy was just visiting the castle, and a very young and thus vulnerable member of the royal family was amongst them.

Image

But the Bulls didn't stand alone. A Dweller garrisson was also camped nearby.

Image

The Dweller garrisson consists of a number of lightly armed troops, and they also have two operational carriage ballista standing by.

Image

Their hero, Lrbearclaw.

Image

The castle has an interior and an exterior, and an extra small gate to south should attackers break through the first. (I made no roof for playability issues, you'll just have to imagine there's a roof above the interior)

Image

The east wall.

Image

The west wall. Each holds a cannon which may fire once every two turns. In total there's 10 bull phalanx, 10 black crossbowmen, 2 heavies, Angrix and Valarius.

Image

The shadows themselves packed together into a burning tower of terror with Phineus on top of it as his undead army marched onto the field.

The horde's right flank.

The horde's left flank.

Alea iacta est...

So, if Starkeep fell, does that mean the Queen I went through so much work to defend is now a shambly-corpsey-thing?

Nah, she's too persistent to die, she survived. The backstory is just there to back up the changes I made to my armies ;)

When do you think we can start PMing our orders?

After I finish sending people their faction information and have decided on which order and time limit for the orders - I'll post when this is done.

edit: oh well, you can send them already if you wish. I'll just make sure they won't get lost between the rest.

Btw there's still spots if anyone should be doubting this.

With the amount of Sig-Fig request by PM I get I learned to SAVE the PM's and only use that file. You could try doing the same so you don't lose the Orders sent. Just a hopefully helpful idea.
