The Fords of Gelron (Round 1)

Bull Deathsquad - Warhead

Image

Crossbowmen attempted to kill Fabian's horse, but failed to beat its armour.

Image

The rest then charged as Weasle made a leap to knock the enemy lord down. Crossbowmen followed suit.

Image

The phalanx killed a horse. The heavy missed.

Image

Weasle succeeded in knocking Fabian down face into the mud, but his follow-up attack stranded on a knight who got in the way.

Karlus - Rev. Sylvanus

Image

"Ghosts of the swamp, I command you deter these invaders!"

Image

Putrid gas emitted from the swamp in front of Laura's forces.

Image

Karlus then ran...

Image

He got this far.

Laura's force - Paco the Duck Ninja

Image

*cough* *cough* The force was severely delayed by the gas. The crossbowmen then aimed their bows at Fishstache's Royal Guard.

Image

They stood their ground.

Fabian - RobotMonkey

Image

Fabian climbed back onto his horse. "Charge men!"

Image

"Pikes down!"

Image

Seeing the cavalry begin to charge, Laura attempted to back them up with a speed spell, but failed.

Image

Which wasn't too bad; the cavalry easily reached the fords by themselves. However...
Sign-up thread wrote:There's also one terrain issue: since they're 'in a swamp' the cavalry can't charge across the blue zones or they'll drown. They can however move over slowly.
Perhaps I didn't stress this enough.

Image

The horses disappeared into the swamp and two knights sunk like lead: the other two barely managed to crawl out.

Image

The others had better luck and managed to cross the ford unharmed. Their devastating charge killed three chosen warriors and knocked three back.

Image

Fabian, hardly noticing what he'd driven his men into, confidently charged the Titan. (nothing happened in the continued battle between the Bulls and the knights so I didn't bother to picture it)

Image

Using the abilities possessing the blood of his House brought, he managed to leap up to Karlus' head, allowing him to land an attack against decreased armour and without a chance for the titan to respond. It took away one of his HP.

Image

Since he got a crit, he was also allowed to land safely back on his horse.

Skaie's force - Napalmking

Image

The infantry and Skaie saved their actions, the crossbowmen let loose a hail of bolts on the enemy missile troops.

Image

Two were killed. Return fire (it's a new rule for ranged combat that works alike to counters I'm testing) killed no one.

Water Demons - Ogel96

Image

Since it was now their turn, they had another go.

Image

The Adlersflügel forces had the advantage of shields, and only one fell.

Image

They returned fire, slaying another water demon.

Image

The heavy swordsmen undauntedly marched into the wall of pikes. The Halberdiers had saved their actions so they got to strike first...

Image

Two rounds of combat later everyone was still alive :? Fishstache had begun to lead his Royal Guard around the melee.

Image

Fat Olaf used his bodyweight to use 'cannonball'.

Image

He slammed into the swamp water, creating a wave that drowned the knight's horses and knocked them on their backs.

Image

The halberdiers advanced and took advantage of some of the stranded knights, slaying them.

Image

The remaining chosen warriors picked themselves up and joined their commander, but couldn't attack just yet.

Can I walk across the green stuff in front of me?

Yeah but it really delays your troops.

Edit: make that next round. You no longer have to pay attention to it, it was just there to remind me.

Ah, Return Fire! I'm making a note of that.

Yeah basically it's just the surviving units get to shoot back regardless of having an action or not. I'm trying to avoid a squad of missile troops getting wiped out without getting a chance to fire back in case the enemy seizes initiative twice in these games without set turn order and also speed things up, if that makes sense. I think it does in this context and with these troops, at least. Fyi: I'm not using it in Freedom's Blood.

I'm pretty sure some other wargames allow for return-fire, so it makes sense to me. And if there is enough "time" for combat counters there'd be more than enough "time" for ranged ones

What's your stake in this match, Gen.O.D.? I don't mind at all if Monkey charges into the ford. Marsh forces will have more time to prepare for Laura's arrival

I had the pikes wait because I didn't think having armored halbediers attack water demons while they are on water and when can we send next orders

Whenever you see me post an overview, you can tell it's time to send your next orders.

This is another Fabian. Mine, FISH!!! and Zahru II's realms are different ones (though I technically put mine on the same planet as Zahru's for ease).

I didn't realize your forces were on Medivo, Brag. Gosh I wish all we medieval players weren't so far away from each other...
