SPQR - The New Roman Empire

Post by ASmallWarpRift » Fri Apr 10, 2015 2:37 pm

This is the army I posted under "DarkFire Knights Revamp" however I decided to change the name of the army to SPQR as it allows me to have a much clearer theme and background which, if you hadn't already guessed, is the Roman Empire.

Army Bio
SPQR or The senate and people of Rome is an Empire which few others can hope to match. Governed by the Emperor Tigurius and the senate, the New Roman empire has expanded from Earth to conquer many systems throughout the Brikverse. The Empire has prizes knowledge above all else and often sends military crusades into unexplored regions of the Brikverse to recover ancient artefacts with which they can develop new technology.

The army is organised into legions with up to ten centuries in each. The legion is commanded by a Legate who gives orders to centurions who in turn command decanii. Each century comprises of roughly 100 men or women with a multitude of combat roles.

The Empire is willing to form alliances with other races to share technology, resources and support in fighting.

Tempestas Accipitres - Stormhawks
Stormhawks are the assault infantry of the army using sheer weight of firepower to eliminate a target. Led by Decanus Octavius Aquila the Stormhawks march with discipline and fight with courage. Octavius is the by-product of an extensive genetic modification program, leaving him fearless and incapable of empathy. This has lead to battlefield executions for soldiers that did not follow orders to the letter. Stormhawks are also equipped with heavy plated shields, designed to all but negate the impact of small arms fire.

Vigil Pedites - Sentinel Heavy Infantry
Vigil Pedites are the firepower unit of the army. Equipped with heavy armour and the colossal Bloodripper rifles Vigil Pedites squads can decimate armies in a single volley. Make no mistake Vigil Pedites are far from weak in close quarters combat. Bloodripper rifles have both a flamethrower and a chainsaw built in, few units can brave the sloughs of flame and screaming chainblades and live to tell the tale.

Primogenitus oppugnare Infantry - Firstborn Assault Infantry
Firstborn Assault Infantry are the first born son or daughter from every family of the empire. Trained to excel in close quarters combat these units strike with agility and fervour, knowing that they are the best of a generation. Firstborn Assault Infantry are often given leave to act without orders, such is the trust and discipline instructed into them from a young age. This gives the Firstborn tactical flexibility allowing them to deploy where they are most needed, defending a breach or spear heading an assault.

Moriarta
Moriarta is the result of the Empire's extensive alien recruitment program. She was born with the natural killer's instinct and makes an ideal assassin. With over 20 confirmed kills, Moriarta strikes fear into the hearts of many a battlefield general

Shivan pugna doctores - Shivan Combat Medics
Shivan Combat Medics have ben trained to work under even the most stressful and testing conditions. Many lives have been saved by the dedication and calm found in these units

Legate Augustinius Decimus accompanied by two honour guards. Augustinius received his rank after the death of his predecessor Brutus Meridias. Augustinius is both stern and stoic, imposing in stature, but remains kind and compassionate. He has forged many alliances with both human and alien empires with his impressive diplomatic skills. On the battlefield he is awe-inspiring, equipped with his runed power sword, he has laid waste to many foolish opponents.

This is about half the army, I need to take some more pictures.

Criticism and Comments are appreciated!

Man, dude. All of these have.. such style. Even troops that use the generic clone-trooper parts have character. Nicely done.

I used "Blood red" Citadel (Gamesworkshop) paint, He has an old Exo-Force body underneath the armour which is not painted/

Thanks! I have ordered parts for two more to complete the squad.

Thanks, I have not uploaded the entire army, the rest are just boring kashyyk scout troops and mandos. I'm aiming to customise them before I upload pictures, I just wish Bricklink postage was faster.

Double posting aside, I have changed the theme of the army since I was not to happy with the previous name and background. I have written bios for nearly all the units and will upload some more pictures in the next few days.

Please tell me what you think!

If you mean Concave Dolphin could benefit from being run over by a tank, I think they already have.

Whenever I see SPQR in my head I'm reading it as spork.

:D

Whenever I sit down to eat a big meal that is somewhat soupy, but has solid bits too, I think of spork.
