[FF22] Mr. President's Medieval Miscellanea

Post by Mr. President » Mon Feb 28, 2022 1:42 am

Man, you'd think that being in the most locked-down city in Australia would have meant I'd post more Lego in the past year. But I guess there's nothing like a figbarf festival to get the posts flowing!

(These are all purist.)

Syr Isolde, Paladin-at-Large

Image

Isolde is a veteran of the war against the most recent Dark Lord™. Some say that she led a desperate rearguard action in the Bone Waste after the Dark Lord™ activated the Source of Unlight; others that she was part of the ragtag band of wisecracking, implausibly attractive heroes who infiltrated the enemy fortress and destroyed the Source. No-one is really sure, because Isolde never shares stories of the war. "Thinking about the last Dark Lord™," she says, "is a great way to get killed by the next one."

Highlander Wine Enthusiasts

Aslantaine is a kingdom of shining chivalry, unimpeachable loyalty, and unbreakable resolve. Its rulers would never stoop to hiring mercenaries. But if brave warriors from the Highlands see fit to volunteer in a righteous crusade, and the king expresses gratitude by sending many barrels of fine wines to their home districts (and also covering their living expenses) . . . well, fair is fair. And Aslantaine clarets are very popular in the Highlands.

Alfhild the Singer

Image

The sight of Northlander sails on the horizon doesn't always mean impending fire, chaos, and robbery. The Northmen are also known for their skalds, and Alfhild has been making a good living in the inns and faires of the kingdoms for the past two years. Whether you've been spellbound by a wizard, or just want to remember the time your mother told you about a galley with good oars, she knows a song for the occasion. Also, when it's time to shift into Fire, Chaos, and Robbery Mode, a guitar upside the head hurts. A lot.

Someone really likes their collectable minifigures!

These are all really great! Although Syr Isolde is definitely my favorite!

Thank you! :D

And yeah, I have a weakness for anything that comes in a blind bag. It's one of the reasons I still play Magic!

(Score Format: Style / Story / Photography / Thematic Potential)

Syr Isolde: 9 / 9 / 9 / 8

Highlander Wine Enthusiasts: 9 / 8 / 9 / 8

Alfhild: 7 / 8 / 9 / 8

These are all great figures, nicely arranged parts and all kept in similar yet distinguishable styles. Also good lore connecting to your stories. Keep it up, I want to see more of this in the future!
