[BM23] Gorilla Squadron

Post by Bolicob12 » Sun Jun 04, 2023 7:44 pm

The last members of the Gorilla Squadron are lost in the jungle archipelago at Sunrise Paradise.

The Signaleer, the Sapper, and the Surgeon:

They've found an old, transport coms-tower among the underbrush and wreckage.

After a quick, sixteen-hour, interplanetary, firmware update, a rendezvous shuttle should be on it's way.

The Gorilla Squadron is part of the new faction The Green Company. The Green Company is a space military that is taming the galaxies of today for the colonists of tomorrow. Sunrise Paradise on the planet Cadus-6XX has been a hotly contested war-zone for a few centuries due to it's beautiful vistas and OT quarries.

Theme: 8.5
The minifigs really get across the theme of the last remnants of a doomed squad; I can easily believe the bandana and flag were previously part of a shirt they no longer have. The star sunglasses are also one hell of a vibe.
Substance: 6.5
The comms tower is built nicely, and avoids looking random, but I think the barely-attached foliage on the base detracts a bit from the feel of a battlepack build. I also think a battlepack based around such distinctive characters also makes it feel a bit more like a diorama than a battlepack.
Story: 8
The extra backstory does a nice job of explaining how they got in this situation.
Total: 23

Photography: 7
The red background is great for contrast, but the tower build would have benefited from a background to match its base.

Theme - 9 - good vibes
Substance - 8 - the tower doesn't feel battlepacky to me and doesn't feel like something worth army building with
Story - 10
Photography - 10
