Santa goes to War

Post by Theblackdog » Wed Feb 10, 2010 12:35 pm

Some old photos from around Christmastime. All of this stuff is still in one piece and will be used, probably, whenever I hold my next forum battle.

Image
Santa's army assembles around some Manly Santa Day trees and a giant Santa statue. You can see the fighter (which you've all seen before), two VTOLs, a jet powered attack sleigh, and Rudolph, who is carrying a Medik and Mechanik. The sleigh is Santa's personal transport, but right now he's standing guard by one of the trees.

Image
Better view from above. The left hand VTOL has two antipersonnel burst cannon in independent turrets, while the right hand one has a trio of fire-linked mk. II guns for use against vehicles. The sleigh has a forward firing burst cannon and minigun, but is faster and more heavily armored than the VTOLs.

Image
Side view. Although the Santa statue seems to have become a casualty of enemy fire, that's all part of the plan; he's a decoy designed to draw fire away from the real Santa. You can also see the two soldiers jumping from the rear bay of the fighter. In all there are 8 minifig troopers, plus Santa, the medik and mechanik, and all of the pilots.

Those VTOLs are great. I like the unique design of them.

They look good but up close there's some problems, especially with structural stability. Some of the pieces have to bend a little to fit.

He's standing on the baseplate of the LEGO Manly Santa Day tree, near the front of the column, holding a bazooka. He's not immediately recognizable, because in all three shots most of his beard is obscured by some part of the bazooka. Look in the bottom left corner of the first picture.
