Ah, but if you've got a big steam boiler at your back and you're as frugal as Biggles McCree a steam gun makes sense, especially when plain lead slugs cost a lot less than brass jacketed bullets.

Thanks for the comments about this little piece of writing. I like writing and I might see if I can add a little more to the story when I get a spare minute.

I envy those with small armies, because when you play with them it forces you to imagine more stuff, where areas a big one has every role fulfilled. Granted, it's more fun in a brikwar, unless there's no matched opponent for it...

*sigh*

Besides, smaller armies remind you of those juvenile days when you couldn't buy all the lego you wanted and had to make do with...wait, I'm still 12 so why am I saying this?

Aksinya stood motionless, her sensors had gathered much data concerning this machine that had come a-striding into her domain upon its rusty and grease-stained legs. 2,300 cycles ago Masters had said none must profane the temple and this was her duty. Masters were now mouldy dust, but their voice still spoke to her. 'None must profane the Temple of Argh, you are its guardian, this is your duty.'

She could pursue no further. Mouldy dust Masters' voice said this and she must obey.
She mused upon Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine. Such speed as it had possessed had been a surprise to her. Such a machine as Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine should not be able to attain such a measure of acceleration with but an external combustion device as a power source. Unfiltered shale oil of the quality which Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine burnt within its external combustion device should not release sufficient energy to produce such a terminal velocity.

Aksinya reprocessed the data which she possessed on Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine.

000001110001110000001100000111.......001110001000010010011.

However her brain wrought by her Masters of spun gold and crystalline filaments could discover no logical conclusion.

'110011110000011011100 to mouldy dust Masters,' said Aksinya.

'(y+3x)~(2/3z-2y) = 2z+q to mouldy dust Masters,' she said before she smoothly turned herself about and returned to the Temple of Argh.
Mouldy dust Masters did not know the answer to the mystery of Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine, but she would find it. It was plain to her that Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine was a Great Old One of whom it had been whispered among the machines who had taught her when she was new made. Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine had two human slaves to serve it such was the greatness which it possessed. If the Great Old Ones thought her worthy Old-Rust-and-Grease-Machine would return and they would craft daughter machines together. This would be her reward for her unfailing guardianship of the Temple of Argh.

Upon her return to the site of the Temple of Argh Aksinya discovered that two humans had come to steal away the treasure of the god, so she stepped upon their floatplane.

This evening I felt too tired to have a battle between my Elves and the UnDead so I did some work on 'Dinosaur Hunter' to make it a bit more purposeful and useful for its intended task.
The rockets were never good where they were so I remounted them on the cabin roof using a mini-helicopter part so they could be aimed without having to turn the whole walker. Removing the rockets from underneath left space for a harpoon gun which I thought could be a useful thing to have on a dinosaur hunt. And the other major mod was fitting up the gubbins for a winch which again is a useful thing to have.
The rest of the mods are a second smokestack, an extension to the safety valve so Mad Jim doesn't get his ears blasted off anymore and I raised up the main smokestack a little more too. There's two new handrails and I finished off the steam powered generator set except for its fiddly exhaust. All I have to do now is find some bits to make a pair of headlights as the side lights and running lights wouldn't be enough to do the job on a proper nightime hunt.

I made some not very good nameplates for 'Dinosaur Hunter' so at least she is properly named now. When I get time I'll make something better.

:csi: nice harpoon gun, and winch. I just love the way the gunner is hanging by his gun :D great work. Now all you need are a bunch of dino attack dinosaurs to fight!

I really like the leg design, but I think you should do them in a different color.
Still, great work!

I was thinking of taking those legs outside and spraypainting them a more steampunky colour to tell the truth.

There's a brick built Dinosaur set available from a trader here in NZ and I was thinking of getting it because it would be absolutely perfect for the 'Hunter' to do battle with.

because this is brikwars?
Because this takes place in a different universe? I mean, The Holy Britannian Empire is futuristic and relies heavily on steam.
