@ jmatthew: Wow! I am seriously liking that artwork, - thanks very much for posting them
The aerial naval vessels in the second picture are the ones I like best, the first one looks very Viking-like and I have no plans to put together any Nordic forces at the moment.
@Pwnerade: In late Victorian/early Edwardian times they would talk about such things as radio waves, vibrations & etc as being transmitted across the Ether which had nothing to do with the substance known as dietheyl ether.
Having some more parts & etc to use now I've been able to properly sort out the last of the national factions in the Lost Valley.
Germanic Alliance (Austro-Hungarians, Prussians & etc)

(German Alliance walking machine not shown in picture)
The Germanic Alliance established itself in the snowy highlands of the sole major landmass on Dinoreich. They particularly chose this region because they shewdly observed that Dinosaurs that infested the planet don't like snow and ice. It is for this reason that most of the Alliance's troops sent to the valley are wearing white uniforms and have cold weather equipment. Several have respirators and they also have a unit pennant (+1 to any stat that stops them running away under fire). The soldier in maroon is a specialist driver mechanic and there should be two, but I forgot to take him out of the walking machine. They are commanded by Leutnant Schnaps (right hand end of front row).
The Baron and his wife have accompanied this expedition which underlines its importance to the German Alliance.
Brittannic League:
(River gunboat and scout walker not shown in pictures)
British Imperial Marines (+ Trooper Clark) commanded by Sergeant Thunder. Trooper Clark is the sole survivor of the original small British garrison on Dinoreich. Corporal Grimes stands at the left hand end of the line. The Marines all have respirators. (Marines +1 melee skill)

Reinforcements from New Glasgow commanded by Lieutenant McDonald.

Nothing overly special to report with these troops except for a tendency to drink too much, get into fist fights and gamble. They also have a delightful habit of yelling aloud, "Hawl, bawbag, get yer maw tae stitch this ya dafty!" and bestowing a Glasgow Kiss on those they don't like (pushed back 2 inches and stunned for the rest of the turn round).
They have a unit pennant.
Empire of the Sun (Sino-Nipponese Alliance).

Possibly this is the national faction I've still got lots of work to do on with regard to backstory & etc. Their colony is in one of the coastal regions where they are very much involved in fishing and small scale manufacturing.
General Wang on white horse, Lieutenant Ng on brown horse, two unamed NCOs in front of them whom I suspect might be twins (Troops with katana are +1 skilled in Melee fighting). Four troopers, three with bayonets and one with a sniper rifle (+1 to damage). Trooper with light field gun (2D6 damage). Colonial Official Dojo (armed with pistol) and his wife Sakura (armed with war fan).
They have a unit pennant (which I have to paint yet because my printer is broken).
Shifty and untrustworthy mercenary types:
Edit:

May be hired one turn at a time for 15 English pounds for the four of them. Highly likely to run away or sell out to a better offer (roll D6, roll a '1' and they're gone). Giving these chaps a unit pennant would be a complete waste of time because they would only sell it or use it for kindling wood. If asked will proudly show you the sixpence they sold their grandmother for.

Edit: Yeah - I think so too, - I'll knock it back to 15 pounds.RunsWithLegos wrote:for the mercs 25 Pounds seems a bit steep for one turn...
Do you mean having airtanks and respirators with hats and helmets? I don't see why it wouldn't work with Viking helmets too.So, the way you did the britannic league healmets with the hats...could you do that with viking helmets, too?

Yes it does, but it's anchored in the river narrows and only the smaller caliber stern gun (damage 2d6) can be brought to bear across the valley. The gunboat could be manovered to bring the heavy bow gun to bear, but this would take two game turns to carry out.Zupponn wrote:So the Brittanic League has the river gunboat?
Going back to the history of Dinoreich, the Germanic Alliance may have established itself first and had naming rights on the planet, but because they tended to stick to the colder regions where there were no dinosaurs, it was the Brittannic League that took the risks involved in occupying the lush semi-tropical lowlands where the dinosaurs were. Because occupying the lowlands is a lot more dangerous the Brittannic Alliance tend to have more mechs, heavy weapons and of course well armed river gunboats. I should also mention that because the Lost Valley is in the Brit's territory they tend to think that the valley is theirs.
The difficulty with the Lost Valley though, is that it's not easy to get into which means that the Brits are limited with what they can bring into the valley. So just one small river gunboat and one scout walker for them.

The Temple of Argh is much better set up now. Say wot you like about Mega Bloks, but their scenery bases are really useful to the wargamer.. In the forthcoming forum battle, the faction that can get the golden Horned Skull of Argh from off that plinth and get it clean away out of the valley will be the winner.

To say the least!Warhead wrote:...um, take away food would be far more confusing?
The Lost Civilisation folk are almost finished. I found some shields on Bricklink to suit some of the warriors and once they arrive that will pretty much be that.
Despite their magical science being highly advanced they still get up to some fairly disturbing activities; - Necromancy for one thing, Human (minifig) sacrifice, intermarriage with clones...... It's all dreadful really.....
