Eh. I figure anybody who's building armies is doing better than anybody who's not, regardless of whether they're stock-built or mocs or what. Stock-built armies with a creative backstory are still creative as far as I'm concerned.
That being said, if I were you, I'd [ATTEMPT TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS]
[WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] when I was a kid. Didn't slow me down one bit.
To put it a different way, hearing you say that [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS], hits exactly the same note as hearing you say that [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS]. Everybody knows it's bullshit; I can't even imagine the kind of person who'd believe it. You [SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] by putting time into [ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS], same as you [SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] by putting time into [ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS]. It doesn't take a genius to draw a link between complete absence of effort and failure to succeed.

Now as for building, you know damn well I can, the issue here is [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS]
Is it a shame I never built the Athena?
Yes, but [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS], and [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS].
I can do Brikwars MOCs, but since I wanted uniformity here this is not an army for them.

I'm not going to speak to the [ATTEMPT TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] going on in this thread, but I will mention something about your view on being a good builder.
Here's something to consider.

If you're too lazy to read the description, that's a bunch of good and great builders sitting down at a convention and seeing what they can build with two Speed Champion sets. All of those flying vehicles, dogs and miscellaneous, non-car things were made from two cars. Do you see how many things can be made from the same pieces? All of those creations can stand on their own, and those vehicles would even be perfect for BrikWars.

Here's another one where they made a city out of multiple copies of a freebie winter skating set and mixels.
Good builders are often at their best when building with a restrictive set of parts. It gets the creative juices flowing far better than having an infinite supply of parts ever could. By putting off MOCing until you have more parts, you're setting yourself up for failure TBH. If you don't know what to do with 100 parts, what the hell are you going to do with 1000, or 10000? You'll be lost because you never practiced building.
Think of it this way: let's say you're saving up for a really nice car, a luxury model with a whole lot of power behind it and that can out perform any other car out there. You tell your parents you don't want to drive their car, because you won't be a good driver until you have a good car to drive, right? So you save up all your money from your job (just humour me for now), and you finally get that beautiful car you've been dreaming of. You're so excited to get behind the wheel. You get the keys, get in the car, and suddenly you realize you don't know how to put the damn thing in drive. None of the controls make sense to you, so you're stuck there with a million dollar driving machine and no ability whatsoever to drive it because you didn't learn how to fucking drive.
I hate to plug my own thread here, but I'm going to anyway.

I'm not posting that to say I'm a good builder, but I do think it's a good read for those who think they can't build without the right parts. Sometimes you have to make the wrong parts the right parts. If I can build 11 different things with 26 parts, you can build one vehicle with the mass of sets you have in this thread.
Here's something to consider.

I think you're missing my point here, so I'll reiterate: It doesn't take a genius to draw a link between complete absence of effort and failure to succeed. 100% of your [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] just boil down to that and nothing else.Whiteagle wrote:Mike, [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS]stubby wrote:It doesn't take a genius to draw a link between complete absence of effort and failure to succeed.
As far as the forum is concerned -- it doesn't matter that you're not succeeding, it's that you keep putting forth variations on this same excuse as though you don't realize how deeply, deeply insulting they are to everyone here. And then you act surprised when people get angry about it.

Its almost as if you used the modularity of the english language to snap together words into a new form that had never been seen before, with less that 30 parts!
Nice job!

Do you have the instructions still? Fuck that, you obviously have internet access, you can [ATTEMPT TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS].
[ATTEMPT TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS], AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE, EVEN IF YOU FUCKING HATE THE STUFF YOU MADE, YOU CAN REBUILD THE SETS YOU HOLD SO DEAR.

I'm not trying to motivate you, dude. That was last year. Re: Tairin Federation
The reasoning that you would like to MOC but can't because of [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] is, as Rayhawk has already discussed, bullcrap. I have never used Bricklink, and the only reason I think I would need bricklink is if I wanted a metric asston of the same part (i.e I want a big field of pink flowers, bricklink a big field's worth of pink flowers). Bricklink seems like quite counterproductive in terms of building style; if you follow the approach of "I must use this configuration of parts and this configuration of parts only (even if I don't have it)" then you will never have to try to [ATTEMPT TO SOLVE WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS], and so you will never be able to improve your techniques. Ergo you will never improve your builds. Perhaps when you're starting out building lego sets can achieve a better standard of quality than you as a builder, but after a little practice any old retard can make things they'd take over a standard set any day.

Even then you don't have to be a great builder to enjoy building, look at that thing, the first build I posted. Now looking back at it's pretty meh, and everybody politely told twelve-year-old me it was pretty meh, but I friggin loved it and spent a fair few hours with my face on the carpet pushing it around making "Boom!" noises. Then I got bored of it, and turned it into a bigger better tank, and had the fun all over again.
There are plenty of reasons why you should build.
And the excuses of [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] or [WHITEAGLE PROBLEMS] are worthless, you've spent more on lego recently than I would have spent in my two years of peak lego-buying. You don't need to be able to call up whatever piece you so fancy, because the beauty of lego is that it is -as you said- very interchangeable.
I repeat, lots of reasons to build.
No reasons to not build.
The End.
Feel free to call me auticstic, elitist, insecure or whatever but all the above still stands.

I feel like this is all lost on him. Whiteagle takes these pieces of advice as insults or a personal attack or something and lashes out. Filled with so much rage this kid.
