White Nun,

Have you been to this site:
http://www.minifigcustoms.com/

They do a lot of this kind of decal custom stuff. Some great work there. Some would fit into the style and colors you are doing. They have the templates for stuff like these:

No I hadn't been to that site before, but wow! - what amazing designs for custon decals. They are really beautiful and some of them will be just fine for what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for posting the link, it was very much appreciated.

Made a beginning on a small unit of High Elf Swordmasters tonight. I hand painted the leader's cloak as an experiment and it turned out pretty well. No frontal photo as yet as I still have to fit the faces and armour decals and touch up paint them. Swords, pauldrons, breastplates and helms are all by Brickforge.

Having had an opportunity to obtain some skeletons, skeleton horses and spare skeleton heads I thought I'd assemble a small UnDead army to use up some of the Castle minifig bits and bobs I've got.

Image

Even though blue isn't actually a cool colour for one of the mighty UnDead to be wearing Bony Bill still managed to carry off a defiant pose.
"Watch it Major,' Jim the guard told him, 'They ain't as harmless as they look if you take my meaning.'

I found this Image on their website.

Doesn't that minifig look mighty familiar?

Here is the link to the corresponding contest: http://www.minifigcustoms.com/files/ima ... /cccvi.jpg

These guys look great so far! A group pic of them all would be nice, too.

I'll post a group photo fairly soon, possibly later today when I get a free moment to set everybody up properly. Some more horses arrived in the post this morning; now all I need to do is convert some more Elf Knight type riders for them.
For the moment the mostly green Forest Elves and the mostly blue High Elves are going to be an allied army until they have enough numbers to form two distinct armies of their own.

Despite being annoyed at having to make do with three manky Pirate skeletons from 'Rent-a-Bad-Guy' Bony Bill (the late Sir William the Doubtful) was cheered up by the arrival of his newly raised/summoned UnDead steed.

Image

Six skeleton horses arrived by post this morning and I've got a bunch of skeletons on their way too. I managed to get 4 Shadow knights cheap and their armour and helmets will be going to Bony Bill's lot and the rest of them will be used to make more Elves.

If you are going to do undead, you should check out Warhead's undead army. Quite nice.

Serious cool bananas, That's quite some army. I think I'm going to stick with an entirely skeleton army just so I can make use of the 'Performance Disimprovement' section of the rules. I'll need to have a necromancer of course or the army won't function at all , but they don't have to be a very good one ('L' plate on back of cloak perhaps?).

Your Elves are fantastic, I've used the same helmets but in grey (half price), I guess I could get the old Warhammer paint out and paint them up. The use of shoulder pads is very effective and the cloaks are pure jaw dropping wow! I've seen some nice cloaks for sale on Briklink but I can't afford the amount I'd like to buy and without a printer I might try to hand craft some.

Your work is amazing, welcome to the madhouse that is Brikwars.

Aw gee whizz Warhead, thanks for the nice comments. I'm using a HP Deskjet 3325 to do my printing and I refill my cartridges to keep it more affordable. I was given my printer, but this model can be picked up for around $NZ20,00 on the second hand market. I guess it would be much the same sort of price where you are.
The blue cloak with the phoenix came about because I couldn't get the design to print how I wanted so in the end I got my small size brushes out and painted in the colours. I then painted the cloak with PVA to strengthen it and I'll eventually give it a light spray with matt art varnish to dull the shine.

Tonight I set out my Elf army for an official WIP photo so you'll be able to see where I'm going.

Image

High Elves. The Swordmasters still need work and those are not the faces I'll be using. Those heads are just there to keep their helmets on. The standard bearer's horse will be getting a handmade set of barding when I get around to it.
Image

Forest Elves. These guys are a nice little army all on their own, but I will be adding to the archers as soon as I can track a few more Series 3 Elves down
Image

The Forest King and his War Captain as well as a Forest Elf Hero riding a Mega Bloks Griffin. ........ And is that a Treeman!?
Image

The 'treeman' is just a proxy until I manage to figure out how to build my own Lego Treeman. First off I'm going to need to get some brown bricks and foliage pieces though.
