I heard there were not enough artillery pieces on this forum, so I decided to post my all time favorite mek (that I built, of course)

This is the dethmek. It is armed with 4 lazar cannons and has a pressure powered chainsaw launcher on top.

This is the dethmek in it's artillery strike pose. it can shoot most small fighters out with ease, but anything larger than 200 HP is a problem, because then it's easy pickings. As an anti infantry unit, it is the top of it's class.

This is the dethmek next to a deadnaut.
STATS:
Skill: 1d8
Armor: 125 HP
Move: 8"
Weapon stats: lazers are 2d6, chainsaw is 4d6 (must be reloaded with fresh chainsaw every shot, can be used close range)

In a weird way, it reminds me of the pain mech. Probably the head sticking out.

Add armour to the legs, we don't care how, just do. Then build the guns into some kind of cover or cowling, et voila! you have an awesome armoured artillery deth mek.

I thought it had a certain *storkish* charm. Easy to bring down the AT-AT way.

I like the skinny legs, they remind me of the protoss walkers in starcraft.

Yes, but on an actual war machine they make no sense, too vulnerable.

I thought so too. I hate how everyone's always like "add armor. durr durr durr" Armor is for pansies. If anything, add more dakka.

Think brikwars.
The dakka is the armor.

The best armor is redshirts. If I could figure out how to make all armor redshirt-based I totally would.

The Star Control games did this. A ship's hit points were its crew.

It's like reactive armor, but with people instead of ceramics.

I designed a board game back in the 90's that had space ships, planets, space and planet combat.
So you needed to transport infantry and tanks across space to the planet you want to attack.
We figured that the ground forces had there own inherent transport ability, this eliminated the need for transport ships, bonus!

So you might have a stack of units in space: Battleship, 2 destroyers, 5 infantry 2 tanks.
Since the defender picks how losses are taken, everyone picks infantry first.

We played like this for several games.
Then it just got silly, people were buying infantry like health points.
It was like those poor guys were staked out on the hulls of battleships to soak up the laser beams.

So we added transports. When you lost a transport you lost the several ground units in it.

I wasn't really against the infantry = ship health, but I had 4 other people wanting to try the other way.
