I'm not really sure why I'm posting the various units of my army piecemeal like this, but I've already started doing it and its too late to stop. But before we get to the new units, a vote!

Heavy Trooper Vote
I have two versions of my heavy troopers, and can't decide which one I like more.

Ranger Squad

Frangerian Rangers recruit exclusively from units that have fought along the frontlines of the Immortal war. equipped with the best weapons and armor the Protectorate can fabricate, Ranger squads are some of the most powerful infantry in the Immortal Alliance.

Stats:
Skill: 1d6+1*
Move: 7 (effectively 6 with armor)
Armor 1d6+4 (2 points of armor come from equipped armor)
1d6 and 1d4 SN from Power Armor (cliche: Halo style armor)**
Either Ranged Weapon Master or CC Weapon Master

*Might upgrade to 1d8
**Might change to only 1d6 SN

Members of a Ranger CC team, with their signature tactical swords and lightweight tower shields.

Image

Ranger CC teams can form into a back to back formation, sacrificing half their movement in exchange for a bonus to parry and the ability to freely rotate the formation at will (Such as having a squadmate with SN boosted armor parry an incoming attack, then rotate the formation to let a soldier with a SN skill/damage boost retaliate).

Ranger rifle squads can crouch behind their shields, giving them full cover. The so called "Black Wall" formation is extremely difficult to disrupt.

Heroes:

From left to right:
Fleet Admiral Katrina Donner (Heroic Space commander)
Major William “Deadeye” Flint (ranged specialist)*
Major John “Cleaver” Haft (melee specialist)*
Colonel Adam "Steel" Denton (Cyborg SuperSoldier)**
"Spectre" (Super Spy)

Image

"Nightshade" (Master Assassin)
Bartholomew the Green (Do I really have to say it?)***
The Black Armor (Sentient Magic Artifact, Master Swordfighter)****

I have several other heroes planned, but I'm still working on getting them ordered.

*Not hero, but heavily buffed officer.
**Beret will be changed to this version, armor will be exchanged for this set.
*** Uses both Wizard Cliche and a ton of SN dice.
****Shield should be black.

If you have some OT studs to jam into their faceplates (like so), I vote for that

I considered doing that, but I didn't really like overall look with the studs in place. It really defeated the purpose of getting the open faced mask in the first place.

Any friend of the Immortals is a friend of ours (except for the Vol). Everyone else is judged on a case by case basis. As for you specifically, Frangerian Intelligence is mostly focused on the ASE and other Anti-Immortals, with some feelers in the TA/AN, so they likely aren't all that aware of your faction.
I'd also point out that you can't actually "come my way", as the Frangerian home system's location is heavily classified.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to say as well.

I like your heroes, especially Colonel Adam "Steel" Denton The combination of the cybernetic head and the robotic parts are great
but Major William “Deadeye” Flint looks like an ordinary figure to me since its the regular galactic patrol figure. I think you should change the head piece or customize some of the parts of it.

I might swap the head around at some point, but I kinda like having some parts of the army be standard, since it provides an interesting contrast with the custom elements. And besides, I've still got several squads of standard infantry to build, plus a bunch more vehicles that I want to add. I've only got so much cash that I'm willing to spend on the heroes, especially since some of them are costing a lot more than others.

I would vote for this idea too.

I did this when I created my ZMC Berserkers and they turned out really awesome looking.

The fact that so many other people have already done the faceplate stud thing is part of the reason that I don't want to do it. I'm trying to develop a sense of uniqueness with my army (not helped by the fact that the standard infantry are stormtroopers and 2011 dragon knights, the two most common armies on this board).

Maybe you should give the heavies a different kind of head then that ties them together and goes well with the helmet. Robotic heads, heads with mics or those scarf-heads or whatever you're supposed to call them could work for this.

Or maybe different armor? Aquazone armor is really cool, but tons of people use it. If you're going for uniqueness, it might not be the best choice.

Whatever you do though, remember it's a terrible decision unless you like it.
