Royal Quadrarian Postal Service (2.0)
Posted: Sun Aug 24, 2014 2:20 am
Regarding: The Royal Quadrarian Post.
Dedicated to the delivery of goods, they are both loved and feared by the denizens of the Brikverse. Loved, because who doesn't love a parcel in the mail? And feared, because the restrictions on post-able items are next to nothing - and so the parcel in the mail is often a stick of dynamite. And the mail is always delivered, and it is always on time. Nothing stops the mail.
More Fluff:
Services are based in large mobile platforms, known as 'Offices.'

These are often heavily armed, to both protect the deliveries and to ensure unhindered service.

^These last ones are Mobile Postal Boxes. Armed and armoured to ensure maximum integrity.
For individual delivery, various couriers are used. The bigger the delivery, the bigger the carrier.

Yes, that is Growle and his Moving Writing-Desk.
But for difficult deliveries, the Royal Post has MOAR things to "assist with the smooth transaction of goods."
The first is theinfamous LHMT MkII, a Fudge-Class Armoured Core:

The Tie-Fighter pilot's head provides targeting data.
The second is the new, quasi-experimental Recipient Enforcement Unit, the first design of Super Walker Death Tank to grace the Brikverse.

Standing at 64 studs/21 inches long and 13 inches high, it is the largest vehicle in the ground forces of the Royal Postal Service.

15/12/14: Updates.
1st: Mobile Regional Distribution Office Mk III

A 20" SHDT. The centerpiece of the army, it's a beast of a vehicle. You don't want to mess with the MRDOs (unless you're Kaplan, but he's special).
2nd: LHMT Mk V

An replacement for the widespread Mk II, featuring a lower, sturdier frame, a modest transport capacity, and vastly improved firepower in the form of a Gauss Lance VII and a Multi-Auto 'Stitcher' Cannon V.
3rd: Royalty Land Transport Vehicle Mk I, aka "The Pain Train"

The Emperor's personal transport vehicle, this 11", multi-storey STD serves to navigate even the harshest warzones with ultimate safety and style.
4th: Army Pic

Showing the majority of the Quadrarian Armoury. Displayed are:
- The All-Terrain Anti-Tank Armoured Vehicle Mk I
- The MRDO Mk II
- The All-Terrain Light Delivery Vehicle Mk I
- The Unmanned All-Terrain Anti-Tank Vehicle Mk I
- The LHMT Mk V
- Growle's Moving Writing-Desk
- The Armoured Aerial Delivery Vehicle Mk I
- The RLTV Mk I
- Various motorbike couriers
- Two Mobile Postal Boxes
- Growle and his dragon, Filiberto

The MRDO shown is the inferior Mk II model, as the presentation was given while the Mk III was still in production.
The mails must go through!

The Royal Quadrarian Post was established in R. 2014 to address the lack of satisfactory delivery services in the galaxy. Originally the Royal Post, the immediate market for no-nonsense delivery in the Brikverse rapidly expanded the organisation from a family affair into a full-blown courier superpower. To aid the administration of such an establishment, the service’s home system of Balwryn I was swiftly annexed. Due to a distinct lack of local royalty, the Royal Post created the Quadrarian Empire, named after the quadratic algorithms used to manage the large amounts of cargo. The Royal Post immediately ceded to the newly installed Emperor (who happened to be the original Director of the Royal Post), rebranded the entire organisation as the Royal Quadrarian Post, and bequeathed the entire Balwryn I system as tithe.
While appearing to use steampunk technology, the Royal Quadrarian Post and affiliated empires are surprisingly advanced, ranking at Tek Level 5 – a full 2 levels above that expected. This is largely due to the innovation of the Quadrarian Improbability Drive. These variants of the Adams model were first developed in conjunction with the Mk I Mobile Office Initiative vehicles, as the difficulties in powering such large constructs with steam were easily apparent. This fundamental design flaw was circumvented by creating an improbability drive which could be powered by steam, thus powering the vehicle through the improbability of functioning. The power of the improbability drive also increases as the vehicle is damaged, thus keeping it functional long after the failure of conventional constructs.
