Ebony Millinery: Chainspitter Drake

Post by Sir Sporktimus » Sun Mar 01, 2015 8:55 pm

The Ebony Millinery is a ruthless organization run by the infamous Arcturas Endrogen, a stately murderer who sips tea pleasantly with those who succeed and has those who fail him disposed of. He, along with his closest units - the mad scientist Doctor Jekyll and the Gentlemen Gunmen, led by the fearsome Sir Pacifus von Sporktimus - have taken up residence on a low-tech planet at the fringe of the known Brikverse, whereupon he discovered a host of gullible knights and peasants to control. After terminating a rather unpleasant fellow commanding a unit of Dragonblood soldiers, he stepped in as their leader, and asserted dominance over the surrounding countryside with a twirl of his mustache.

Image

The Helmeted Division are a ragtag group of vermin with an ever-changing roster due to their frequent use as cannon fodder. Nevertheless, there are a few personalities that, by the power of Koincidence, seem to return to the group - including the scruffy, soul-less Sir Mange, the acne-ridden Sir Fungal, and their horse-riding General Phineas. Although the Ebony Millinery's pride is in their black headwear, they've reluctantly hired a red-clad ninja to act as a Scout.

Image

Joining the Helmeted Division in conquest is Ignis, a young dragon fledgling kept under (some) control by a hired Mongolian Dragon-tamer. With massive claws, underdeveloped wings, and a nasty tendency to set things on fire, Ignis haunts the nightmares of many suppressed peasants.

Image

The previous second-in-command of the Dragonblood was quick to step in as the new leader, under the watchful gaze of Arcturas. Although he carries out and enforces the rulings of the black-suited villain, he does so with a brutality and violence even more direct than his predecessor, as evidenced by the carcass of a Kraii Nestlord which he wears as proof of his hostility.

Image

Of course, the core of the Millinery's power lies in Sir Pacifus von Sporktimus and his disciples, the Gentlemen Gunmen. Once hired mercenaries, they have now become Arcturas' most trusted militia. Sporktimus, having once lost an eye, is now imbued with a mechanical replacement equipped with a tactical targeting lens, though the color of his cape varies depending on his mood.

Image

Finally, Arcturas Endrogen himself, sipping a fine cup of Earl Grey. Behind him, as usual, is his inventor and resident mad scientist, Doctor Jekyll, who tends to remain offworld in order to better construct steam-powered machines of Death and destruction.

Image

Other Notes: Arcturas, Pacifus and the Dragonblood Commander Crawven all serve as Masters, whilst every other unit wearing a black hat/helmet is counted as a thrall. Jekyll's potion allows him to transform from a Mechanik to a Heavy for 1d6 turns, assuming that he has it. A Critical Failure causes him to overdose on the serum, turning his newborn violence against the nearest unit, friendly or otherwise.
As a note, the group is prone to frequent fluctuation, but this is all I've got for now. I'll add anything more as it gets built.

These guys are pretty badass. I like the color co-ordination and the purposefully cliched commanders.

Pretty sweet faction. One suggestion though, the guy with the nestlord/Chima helm on his head? Instead of just putting a second head on top of him, just use two 1x1 round pips, and then attach the raven helm, it will sit a bit lower, and look a lot better.

Dragonblood Inquisitor, Bloodmage

Post by Sir Sporktimus » Sun Mar 29, 2015 12:10 pm

The Dragonblood Knights were founded with the belief that darker brands of sorcery, derived from Red Transparent, were the only pure magic, and that such power should only be utilized by a select few. Before the Royal Azure Imperium stood to defend and unite the commonfolk of Azure, those who made use of magic without the consent of Dragonblood were hunted down and eliminated. Those who carried out these investigations were the feared Dragonblood Inquisitors, skilled users of the dark arts who were capable of taking on even the most powerful of wizards. Today, Head Inquisitor Brendesk Skrunn strikes fear into the hearts of any supernatural-using minifig.

Image

The Dragonblood Mages, on the other hand, are a cult of sorcerers who have been part of the Knights for hundreds of years, controlling schools and strongholds for their kind scattered across the unknown wilds of Azure, beyond the reach of the Imperium. Though the Knights form the raw strength of their organization, it is the mages who are responsible for the terror that accompanies the name Dragonblood. Whilst the Knights have generally adapted well to the Ebony Millinery's hostile takeover and subsequent rise to leadership of the Dragonblood, the Mages remain dangerous and hostile to the black-clad organization, unwilling to hand over the power and control they've maintained for centuries, and largely retreating to their strongholds, only communicating with the Dragonblood through the Inquisitors and those commanders who have remained in power despite the Millinery.

Sir Pacifus von Sporktimus

Post by Sir Sporktimus » Sun Mar 29, 2015 12:17 pm

Meanwhile, Sir Pacifus von Sporktimus, commander of the Ebony Millinery's feared regiment of Gentlemen Gunmen, has tended towards use of a cane and an elegant sword in the place of a machine gun.

A very gentlemanly cane sword. How dignifying.

The Ebony Millinery are an infiltration organization that uses social power over military might, and thus their vehicles of true destructive potential are rarely seen. Because of this, their designs are sometimes used as inspiration by larger, more marketable organizations - such as Blue Heliad Science's LW-1 Mantis. However, when underhanded tactics just won't cut it, a regiment of scientists and deadly inventors wait on the steam-powered world of New London, ready to harness Green Transparent to create monstrous machines capable of taking on the toughest of foes. Today's unit of choice, the Chainspitter Drake.

Image

Once a sad, simple Fire Drake from the medieval world of Azure, his days spent idly by killing unicorns and barbecuing the occasional peasant, this reptile has undergone a terrible cybernetic transformation into a mechanical weapon, and he's much the happier for it. Look at that smile. He's smiling because he's armed with dual 2" MachineGuns, which can take out a whole crowd of peasants as fast as he can set them on fire.

Image

Then, when causing mass destruction with those gets boring, he can transition to these acid-spitting cannons, capable of eating through even the heavy armor of an MW-1 Daedalus.

Image

Although the Chainspitter Drake is perfectly capable of going on murderous rampages on his own, his Gunner companion can urge the beast towards the more important targets on the field, adding bonuses or skill dice to the drake's attacks.

I think I prefer chainguns over the "acid mode", but it looks like a cute idea nonetheless.
