So i wont really call this an army thread this is more of a doodle thread where ill be posting my starships/fighters that i build that don't really fit with a faction due to colors/lore ect. So lets begin.
Currently we have a light frigate and a missile barge as well as 3 strike fighters and 2 heavy fighters.
Image
First off we have the missile barge it is a simple build but it serves its purpose it has 184 size 3 missiles 88 per side and 8 guarding the engines it also mounts 4 railguns just below the bridge.

It currently lacks an interiors but one day i might finish it.

Slightly angled shot.

I've fixed her up to be hella less ugly and also added some color im just testing the colors right now. It is armed with 3 point defense turrets mounting miniguns as well as two railgun turrets 32 size 4 missiles and finally a MAC cannon.

Railgun turret.

The heavy fighters are equipped with heavier firepower than their lighter counterparts they have a plasma caster as well as 8 size 2 missiles.

Underbelly.

Image
Finally we have the drone strike fighters each one is armed with a single auto cannon as well as 8 size 1 missiles (will be upgraded to size 2-3 once i get the parts)

Underbelly.

So for total inches we have a total of 60" we have 48" of capital class ships and 12" of fighters. Each of the larger ships is 24" and each fighter is 4"
Thanks for viewing! Constructive criticism welcome.

These aren't supposed to be minifig scale, right?
You need to add more colour to make them look more interesting i think.

I like the ships, they look nice but perhaps as the previous guy said, they could do with more colours.

They are actually fig scale as they both have room for a full interior but at this time I'm to lazy to add one. I'm not sure about colours if I do add them I may look less uniform due to the already uninformed look due I the difference in the grey colours. But if you have a suggestion for colours that would be great!

You should add some small accents like racing stripes

I hope this helps whoever reads it.

You must look at colour blocking; way too many people take "using colour" to mean adding plates of two different primary colours which may or may not go together in wierd places or just completely randomly.
To do it properly with what I shall call "colour blocking" you need a reason to have a different colour; possibly decorative like having "racing stripes" (or my preferred variant, the tiger stripe- see the tail of that bomber-). Another reason to have colour on a build is to demarcate different sections of material or plating (see the different levels on this cruiser or the differentiation between the painted surface of this tank and the flat grey of the running gear).

Similarly you can put certain details in a slightly heavier colour, normally weaponry or communication equipment looks good 1 shade darker (for your grey-grey ships you would put these details in black).

This is just for colour, your light frigate has potential but the shaping could use a little de-boxifying (the shape of the missile barge is nice though).

Thanks for these suggestions ill have to try and get this on some of my newer projects and also thank you for your honest feedback!
