So, I can't think of any army ideas that haven't been taken yet, the closest I've come is failed WWII tech with a dash of atom punk, and maybe pirates... cuz who doesn't like pirates. And if you guys could help me tune into the ridikulas and get away from the realistik (cuz I'm a n00b). Help please

Take a country, amplify its stereotypes to 11 and go from there.

Example: Space Irish, an army of short red-bearded dwarves who attack with broken beer bottles (and have green uniforms of course).

That could work with WWIIish stuff also, depending on how you work it.

Exactly this. A significant amount of the currently active armies are just real-world countries in space. A lot of the forum's classic forces started out as generic armies. Heck, most of the BrikWars "lore" in the rulebook is satire or riffing off of real-world things, but that's the fun of it.

Just work with what you have, build what you want to build, and have fun with it.

Was using irl shit really that much of an issue among users or is it just how they are handling the source material?

I don't really think it's a bad thing, it's just a trend that popped up. I wasn't trying to make a negative statement if that's what you're thinking.

Nott an issue imo, Hell even armies like the Assyrians and Scythians were at least named after irl groups.

Guess I just didn't wait anyone to think I was copying irl because of unoriginallity, (plus irl can be a little stale sometimes)

Well there was several weapons/devices back in world war 2 that didn't really make it off the drawing board, and since WWII fascinates me, I decided to build my first idea based on the panjandrum. The panjandrum was basically two 10-foot wheels that had a cylinder filled with I think 200 lbs of explosivez. And it was powered by rockets.(always makes things cooler) Here's a pic.

Like I said before, it depends on how you work with the source material, as you can still work with it on a story that is detached from all reality. However, it's indeed stale and pretty much pointless if you just emulate contemporary events and pretend it's original content, at least in my eyes.

Wasn't you in particular but I've heard from other users that they weren't fine with it for various reasons like (as mentioned above) cringy satire on contemporary politics.
