Ronin
Complete Overwatch:
Admiral Gustavo, formerly known as the 'green goblin', commands the Ronin infantry in battle.
Jayna Ashford leads a party of skilled and devoted Razors. Her weapons - 2 katanas, 1 with a square guard, 1 with an octagonal guard - symbolize the fusion between the old ways and the new.
Haz-ops troopers or simply 'heavies' carry extreme firepower into battle. They are specialists armed with heavy laser blasters, medium rocket launchers (XSize 2) or small rocket launchers (XSize 1)
Flagship warmachine of this Ronin clan is the XB-45 Grizzly BattleMech. It comes with heavy armor plating and a weapons loadout that is extremely deadly at both short- and long range.
The Ronin aesthetic is characterized by the asymetric orange color blocking on the MOCs - the orange is only ever on the left side of the vehicle.
She has some nice curves.
These rapid-fire suckers will put a hole in just about anything.
Don't get too close to the Grizzly either.
This particular clan of Ronin is referred to as the Sheltered Ronin. During expansion of Ronin territory, they conquered Daucus City and got acquainted with it's citizens. Their alliance leads to a more tech-focused and urban form of Ronin tribalism. Because the city is established on the underside of a large chunk of Rehinn's crust, it is protected from the harshest of sunlight. Therefore, these Sheltered Ronin do not suffer the effects of the radiation, such as pale skin.Nervyr wrote:The outerlands de-facto military power. while other residents of the outer atmosphere struggle to stay alive, the ronin have handily adapted to life here. with a large assortment of vehicles they are able to constantly project power and salvage the necessary resources to maintain their grip on the region.

Daucus City Protectorate
The citizens of Daucus City were proud folk, focussed on defending their home. That is, until their domain was conquered and they suffered two years under enemy rule. But Commander Perzai, presumed dead since the invasion, returned in spectral form to lead his people to freedom. Changed forever, the Daucans now have a new goal: war.
Lord Commander Perzai.

Astral Netherlands
Ah yes, the dutch. They originate from a tiny speck of land. But when exploration and exploitation of the brikverse began, the dutchmen showed their true "VOC" mentality. Opportunistic and ruthless, the military forces of the Astral Netherlands are to be reckoned with.
There's three divisions in the Astral Netherlands main army: red, white and blue.
Red Division is the avant-garde of the dutch space military. Always first to deploy and aimed at securing an initial landing zone, their training and weaponry is aimed at flexibility and decisiveness.
Lenny Havoc, bastard son of the Almighty Benny, leads the White Division into combat. Well-protected and armed with heavy Assyrian blasters, these troopers simply don't give up.
Blue Division spends hours reading up on the current metagame of brikwars. As such, they currently carry a ton of heavy explosives into battle, because that's what ninja_bait said they should do. The blues are protected by 3 ninja troopers who make sure nobody gets too close to the stack of explosives.
Lastly, the Astral Netherlands distinguishes itself from the Regular Netherlands by the fact that they own at least 1 main battle tank.
A fancy hatch in the back of the tank allows a gunner to unleash a hail of bullets onto flanking infantry,

Re: Bertinators' Factions
Imperium Dritalianum
Dritalia was once a mighty civilization, ruled by an emperor from the capital city of Droma. Strict military discipline and innovative tactics enabled the Dritalians to conquer many foreign worlds and accumulate incredible wealth.
Their flourishing society allowed more and more time for entertainment. Emperor Driulius ordered the construction of the Kolloseum, a grand arena that would host epic duels for all to spectate.
It wasn't long before the first Dritalian citizens realized that it was more fun to join the gladiatores than to just watch them from the stands. So the fights grew significantly in size and frequency, resulting in more and more kolloseums to be built.
In just a few decades, more than half of the Dritalian land mass was converted to one giant arena. Covering nearly a trillion studs, The Grand Kolloseum hosts a massive, non-stop skirmish that started around BR 0,081 and lasts to this day.
Many instruments of war have been added to the equipment of the gladiatores since the ludi began. This includes guns, tanks, airplanes and animals - each with a focus on both deadliness and marvelous aesthetic.
All inhabitants of the brikverse are welcome to visit the arena and join the millions of Dritalians in their fight at any time, either as a vacation or to acquire one of the various forms of loot.

The pirates of Barracuda Bay couldn't believe their luck when they discovered the Fountain of Youth in an underwater cave nearby. But in the years that followed, nearly all of them found their death sailing, brawling and drinking. Except for one: their captain.
Now tens of thousands of years old, Captain Redbeard scours the galaxy in search of the next great adventure! Realizing his exceptional leadership capabilities and unprecedented storytelling potential, Warhead offered the pirate a high-ranking position in the Immortal Legion.
The squad of Immortals further consists of an officer, 4 troopers and 4 Terrorkhan.
The semi-sentient Immortal Savager is used for slapping anti-immortals in the face. Or even better: grabbing a whole squad of infantry and taking them out with a single precision rocketstrike.

Dragon Forest Rangers
Roaming the Green Wyvern Forest, these rangers know how to care for their own. Sir Gerhard commands his loyal men, with a heavy focus on archery. Since the Forces of the Crown don't have a lot of bowmen, these Rangers are often paid to come in and support with ranged attacks. The Rangers are also distantly related to the men of the Dragon Guard, with some loose family ties still in existence.

Åsbjørn's Plunderers
Having sailed from the lands of Santa Claus, these vikings set foot in Studland with the sole purpose of plundering. They are lead by the heroic Åsbjørn.

Re: Bertinators' Factions
Crown Knights
Sir Alderic and his squad can often be found there where the battle is won. His spearmen are the cutting edge of the Crown's forces, unleashing deadly attacks from both close range and from afar.
Sir Duuko is held in high esteem all across the kingdom, and is regarded as one of the finest swordsmen of the current age. He leads a group of devoted fighters.
Wealthy soldiers were the ones who could afford armor and a horse. They had the time to practice swordfighting and thus stood the best chance of surviving a battle. They offered their service to dukes, counts, and feudal lords in exchange for payment. It wasn't until much later that a Knight was regarded as an honorary title and part of the military elite.
Regardless, these minifigures are happy with the +1 Deflection because it allows them to slay more enemies before dying a horribly epic death.
These combatants are often held in reserve or tasked with guarding checkpoints, but that doesn't make them any less deadly when sent into a fight.

Re: Bertinators' Factions
Crown Knights are always awesome - the dark blue is really striking and effective, whatever kingdom they represent.
This thread also reminds me I need to finally finish my Dragon Knights. I've been tinkering with them for way too long!
This passage is a huge coincidence to me, because the Lone Wolf gamebook group on Facebook was talking about this exact issue this very morning. (Minus the +1 Deflection stuff.)bertinator wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 3:19 pm
