[BM23] Sigfig's Battlepack Entries (4)

Post by Silent-sigfig » Mon May 22, 2023 12:25 pm

For this contest I tried to cut as closely to actual battlepacks as possible--one vehicle, four figures.

Legacy Factions:

United Systems Alliance Non-Consensual Liberation Battlepack

Image

For this battlepack, I aimed for when they were at their worst--All flick-fire, popguns, and at most two of the same figures.

Image

Drone Operator hard at work. it is only now that I realize I included too many printed parts for the terrible type of battlepack I am going for. I included two.

Image

The figs....They don't even all have guns. How fun!

Immortal Empire Reconnaissance Pack

Image

This is a typical early battlepack, I think--no popguns, a neat vehicle, 3 different types of figs.

Image

Image

The headhunter mech isn't as solid as your typical battlepack fare, and has way more parts.

Image

Not a terrible figure assortment.

45th Union "Denazification" Pack

Image

A classic battlepack.

The buggy is probably the closet to an actual battlepack vehicle. Small and solid.

Image

Aww, all the figs have different guns. So sad, better buy more sets to properly equip them.

VOL Raging Rhino Raider Attack Pack

Image

Now we're talking! Some of the more recent battlepacks have been pretty cool--All proper guns, neat vehicles, and $10 more than the first waves--This is what I aimed for with this pack.

Image

The rhino selphuchur-mech contains the remains of a dead warrior of old. They were renowned for their battle prowess, but not enough to join the demon-legions of Volhalla.

Image

(I am actually quite proud of the back.)

The figs. A winning assortment TBH.

Also is that Zaubermeister Von Blatt?!?!

Image

Ah crap used two shades of trans-orange. Not very battlepack-like, I think. maybe nexo knights did this.

I appreciate the strict adherence to the "battle pack" idea

USA NCL BP:
*Theme: 10 YESS FLICKFIRE AND POPGUNS
*Story: 8
*Substance: 8 Something about that drone's landing gear scratches my brain the right way. The brass shots are a nice touch
*Photography: 7

Immortal Recon:
*Theme: 9 God I love the eras of battlepacks gimmicks
*Story: 7 Its the immortals!
*Substance: 7 That mecha is literally beautiful but I'm not the biggest fan of the figs personally
*Photography: 7

Denazis:
*Theme: 10 God this is pure Indiana Jones and I love it
*Story: 8 Good satire
*Substance: 10 These builds are the perfect mix of modern brikwars and classic battlepacks.
*Photography: 7

VOL:
*Theme: 8 pretty colors
*Story: 8 That mech tells a story all on its own
*Substance: 8
*Photography: 7
"Well maybe you should speak with Pamela, you son of a bitch."

USA
Theme - 10 - I like the idea of making a battlepack of a particular era in LEGO sets. Drone is perfect for USA
Substance - 9 - I think maybe the specialist could be jazzed up a little more
Story - 7 - not a lot of story, it's clear what they are though
Photography - 9 - Good presentation

Immortals
Theme - 9 - it's clearly immortals
Substance - 9 - mech has some fun techniques
Story - 6 - again not a lot of story and these are even more generic
photography - 9

45th Union
Theme - 10 - spot on
Substance - 10 - I think this has the right battlepack feel, great styling on the build with efficient part use, great minifig variety without losing the army building
Story - 7
Photography - 9

VOL
Theme - 8 - I don't know the VOL that well but I remember it being more red
Substance - 9 - lots of NPU
Story - 6 - the wizard stands out as a little incongruous
Photography - 9
I make apocalypses and apocalypse accessories.
