Bertinator's Tank Shop


"A little while ago, I had some extra time on my hands. So I started with the only sensical thing to do... building a tank!"



"It all starts with the tread system. Valiant's Tank Shop Thread was a great help for that. But these roadwheels... I had to build those myself!"



"This section needs some more work. Glad I decided to stock up on SNOT bricks, haha!"



"I took my cart for a little supply run to the Wall Mart. These parts were all 50% off! No idea if I'll ever use them, but the buying alone made me feel real smart and lucky."



"Meanwhile I'm browsing Bricklink to see if I can order all the armor plating parts in a nice, coherent color scheme."

Style: 6 - Solid scenery with some nice sidebuilds. But it´s actually more a soap than a vignette / diorama.

Substance: 7 - The tank is rad, especially so colorful. Some sick shapes and angles on that thing, yet traceable and simple at the same time.

Photography: 8 - Smooth lighting, good focussing work and a clean background.

Theme: 8 - Nice to see QS Bertinator gain traction (heh) in the brikverse as a Jack-of-all-trades.

...I was going to do something interesting with Statlor and Waldorf, but it is too freaking hot, and I still haven't done the Blarney Stone vingette for the loser of the Blarney Battle, so I'll keep it simple.

Huh...

Style: 7 While it is lacking a proper floor and backdrop, that is clearly a tank workshop, with tools, a pile of scrap, and a utility tractor.

Substance: 6 I like the tank a lot, and the multicolored-ness of it is VERY Lego. Love the little trailer with the tools and "stuff I picked up cheap that I might use," but this feels more like several tiny builds surrounding one large one that just kind of go together? There isn't a lot linking them completely... or maybe it is just me?

Photography: 7 You got dinged for the white background and floor, but at least we're not seeing the mysterious big-person furniture and clutter, I guess? Focus is a little, hmm, iffy on a few of these, but there's a lot of photos of different aspects of the build as a whole, which makes for a better overall picture of this.

Theme: 7 This is definitely Brikwars - I mean, you built a tank, out of Lego. That's about as core Brikwars as you can get, and I like that Bertinator the Sigfig is showing us around and explaining stuff. Also that he does what I do. "I'll just sweep up this stuff and sort it later!"

Good work on figuring out roadwheels that work with those tracks!

I'm glad you like it! Your work was a great help and inspiration.

The roadwheels were def the trickiest part, but I really like how well they stay in position once the armor is in place.

Centurion Assault Tank



This is my first tweepunk build and I don't think it will be the last. I had a ton of fun building this.

Used by the Imperium Dritalianum.

Instructions - Centurion Assault Tank

The tank consists of two parts:

• The lower part with studs facing up
• The upper part with studs facing forward

The turret is built on top of the plate that connects the two parts - as such, it has studs facing up as well.



The lower part is actually quite simple - it's a 4-wide rectangle exactly 3 briks high.



The idea of the upper part is simple - it's basically a stack of briks. It has slopes on the front and a SNOT connection with two slopes on the back. The 1x4 plate slots into the two 1x1 briks with technic pin holes. The turret mounts to the 2 center studs of this tile.



Credits for the turret go to Ikensall. Probably some illegal connections but it looks good. A black technic pin connects the bracket to the 4x4 round plate at the bottom.



That's it - you should be ready to roll!

Studland Main Battle Tank

A full recolor of the tank that opened shop.


Turret comes out easily and fits two figs. Gunners, selbstverständlich.


It's a snug fit for minifigure #3, the driver.


The interior of the turret is packed with explosive ammunition, because the tanks main weapon is a payload launcher.


Rear view if you're into that. The hatch opens up to reveal a 2x4 open space. That's where I'd place the engine block, if I had one. Like most parts of the interior, that hasn't been fleshed out yet.

I love it!
My only critique (more of a personal preference than anything) is your use of rubber-band tracks over track links.
That being said, you've pulled it off quite elegantly. That's something I wouldn't touch with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!
