[HPH24] Varangian "Striker" Mk.II Anti-Tank UGV

Post by Kastrenzo » Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:47 pm

Several years ago the Varangian army experimented with a small, lightly armed and ambush oriented drone vehicle, intended to give the army an inexpensive hit and run ability against their eastern advesaries fleets of tanks. The Initial version was largely unsuccessful as the wheelbases kept getting stuck on terrain, and focused too much on protection, which was largely useless for such a light vehicle.

Sometime in R2023 Or perhaps R2024, The concept was revisited by engineers. The Mk.II model was given treads instead of wheels. The armor was completely removed. Making it light to transport, quicker on the move, and ultimately required less parts. It was by all accounts. A remote controlled gun carriage. Armed with a small caliber pulse gun, while it can't punch through enemy armor. The drone is meant for lightning fast flank attacks on the side and rear. Or sometimes ambush attacks, buried under foliage or urban rubble.

Nice little tonk.

Style: 8 Reasonably creative, like the use of the wagon-yoke piece in the build.

Substance: 7 it is... a little, stripped-down, basic tonk, but it has a moving turret of sorts.

Photography: 7 Good photos here. No parts break-down, though.

Story: 8 This is a decent background for such a little build, and it provides some nice context for the machine. Looks a little off as a Mark II of the build in the first photo though, even taking the loss of armor and shift from wheels to treads into account.
