[BM25] Vomarsk's slightly over-engineered Battlepacks

Some of these you may have seen already on Discord. I started building stuff for BM early because I had a few gimmicks in mind that i wanted to add to the builds and I didn't know how much time I was gonna have to figure those out. You might have also seen a very similar build to one of these during the Blarney Build. The version here was first, the BB version was a modified one. All of the builds here were created specifically with BM in mind.
Battlepack Bundle: Battle of Azurias
These two battlepacks are an homage to the old Star Wars Battlepacks, where you'd have two packs of different factions that were pitted against each other (example: Imperial Dropship and Rebel Scout Speeder). It's also an homage to my Rekon Kickoff battle, where these two factions first ran into each other.

Devastator Drop Pod
Legacy Faction

Image

The Vomarsk Drop Pods were originally built as Robot charging stations, back when the Mech Drone armor was still autonomous. After the testing phase was over, the aliens modified the charging stations slightly to make them into drop pods, that could quickly send small groups of Mech Drones and Laser Troopers to the surface of an invaded planet.
With the Devastator variant of these Drop Pods, the Vomarsk Saboteurs added a powerful cannon to the drop pods so they wouldn't be as useless after deploying their troops.

Set includes the Drop Pod, three Mech Drones and a Laser Trooper. The Laser Trooper is included so that you have a higher ranking fig that could be used as a hero for small scale battles. It's still low rank enough to be used as a generic trooper in larger scale battles, to not take away from the army building potential of the battlepack.

Gimmicks:
- the Drop Pod opens up to deploy its troops and turn into
- This is a remake of an alt build of 7707, Striking Venom. The alt build "Frontline Barricade" had a small Robot charging station, which was the inspiration for these Drop Pods (as can be seen here)

Jaffa Reconnaissance Squad
New faction, I think (they only showed up this year in RK and BB)

Image

With how well their first battle in the Brikwars went, the Jaffa have decided that only infantry doesn't cut it and that they need some better firepower to scout out new planets in case the locals don't want them there. So they started sending probe droids with their squads. These robots are small enough to be teleported in via ring transports and are fast and durable enough to take on smaller enemy forces. The Probe version seen here is a Combat Probe, equipped with additional, heavy staff cannons as well as shield generators.

Image
The Set contains the Combat Probe as well as 4 Jaffa guards (two regular and two serpent guard), all equipped with staff cannons. it also includes a cape to turn one of the Jaffa into a prime in case you need a hero, as well as pauldrons to give one of them extra armor.

Gimmicks:
- while I would have liked to replace the staff cannons with fancier looking versions and to add more armor for the Jaffa, I had a budget - because this battlepack is exactly 100 pieces. Maybe I should also submit this for HPH?
- like with the other two battlepacks, there's an alt mode.

Image
By removing the shield generators and the weapons from the Combat probe, you can turn the Combat Probe into a regular recon Probe and build two deployable staff cannon turrets for your Jaffa.

Image
You can also just give the staff cannons to one of the Jaffa to have a heavy gunner.

Grunt Battlepack
Not sure if New or Legacy faction, like the Jaffa they only showed up twice so far (in BB this year and in a battle last year that only lasted two turns because Brikthulu)

Image

Grunts make up the bulk of the Alliance's forces. And while their leaders normally don't really care about their well being, putting them into a mech has proven to be more efficient than to just send them out to die. Mostly because the mech actually kills stuff and doesn't just run away in fear when it sees an enemy.

This battle pack includes A Grunt Goblin, 3 Grunt Minors and a Grunt Major. Like witht he Laser Trooper in the first Battlepack of this post, the Major can be used as a hero or as cannon fodder, depending on your needs.

Gimmicks:
- This is a remake of two older builds I had, one of which could be seen in the Battle for Frysa-11 last year. I don't have pictures of the other one right now, might add later.
- Like the other two Battle Packs, this has an alt mode. Just a bit more insane than the others. Because...

This is a 2in1
using parts from the Goblin, you can instead build a Gorgon, another type of Alliance Walker, built around a heavy Needler.

Subject: Ancient Structures

Commander, as you requested I revisited the three other sites of ancient structures that we found. Unfortunately, Sites 2 and 3 were completely devastated by Legion Rho of the Immortals and the FleebOrks Brootals. Site 1, former Hive World "AS-236" however, was mostly untouched. The XEC were happy to let me survey the area, even after the Swarm's run-in with them some time ago.
Anyways, while exploring the site, I uncovered a few different types of inactive guard robots.
The most common type I could find were these humanoid "Troopers". From what I can tell, they aren't much faster or more durable than your average soldier, but it seems like they have a failsafe that disintegrates their body when they are close to being destroyed so that they can later be reassembled. Not overly concerning but might be worth noting.
Image

Now, these next ones look to be a bit scarier. The blades of these "Skirmishers" don't just look painful, the Units are also mobile enough to get into melee range fast. Like the smaller robots, they also have the ability to disintegrate and rematerialize their bodies. But the data I found here suggests that they use this to quickly move around battlefields, turning their bodies into light and traveling at light speed to essentially teleport towards the enemy. The good news is that they seem to be vulnerable during the disappearing and reappearing parts.
Image

One more thing to note about them: the Skirmishers carry around a small probe Droid in their hull that they can deploy at any time. And those things seem... annoying.

Good news first, these "Orbiters" look pretty fragile. Shouldn't take too much firepower to shoot them out of the air. However, their size and speed might make that a bit more difficult. Their offensive capabilities also look to be very limited.
The bad news is that they have a lot of annoying ways to support their more threatening friends. from creating hard light walls to shield the other robots from damage to opening portals for more reinforcements and even reassembling fallen Skirmishers... these things should definitely be a priority target whenever you see them.

Also worth noting: None of the Sites we have found so far comes even close to the size of the Azurias Temple. So there may be a lot of these and even some stronger constructs slumbering inside those structures. So try to avoid triggering any security systems. I don't know how happy they'd be to see someone stealing an artifact from the middle of one of their temples.

I'll join you at Site 4 as soon as possible to keep an eye on these robots. Maybe I can figure out a way to reprogram them to guard the expedition instead. Until then, try to not blow up the temple.

Sincerely,
Quantumsurfer Vomarsk
