The Emerald Thunder

One of my most recent Lego creations, a small spacefighter I cobbled together from an old Star Wars kit and my spare parts box. I call it the "Emerald Thunder".
Designed as a light assault fighter, the Emerald Thunder is lightly armored and armed, with only a pair of laser cannons mounted underneath the hull. Most of her punching power is in her missile pods, mounted astride the main body. Each pod conceals four homing missiles and one Orange Transparent Chainsaw-tipped FDS Missile for a deadly, albeit short, barrage.
Included in this image is the ship's pilot, my sigfig Professor Ken, as a size comparison.

You guessed exactly right. I bought that set (
http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/7133-1) way back in 2002 on the clearance rack. Zam's speeder fell apart a few months after I built it, and I just never cared to repair it. Then, I finally decided it was time to make something new out of it, and voila.

Well you did get the set right, 'cos I first thought of the geonosian starfighter set (I think it also had those long things on the side).

I ALMOST bought the Geonesian set back in the day, kinda like I almost bought the Rebel Snowspeeder set and Grevious' Speeder vs. Obi-Wan on Boga set, but it was out of my price range at the time. (I'm still kicking myself for it, too!)

I thought it looked like it because of the windshield or whatever you want to call it and the things sticking out in the front

Oh, yes, the cockpit and nose. I had to get awfully creative with that windshield because of its awkward triangular shape. It's actually mounted at a 45 degree angle to the cockpit floor, but the side plates hide the gap.
