SORD Super Battle Group

When SORD (SUPER ORIGINAL ROBO DESIGNS) designers drew their plans for the Super Battle Group (SBG), they wanted a completely independent strike force capable of being dropped from the back of a single B-90 Jumbo Fortress. Unfortunately, due to SORD's incompetent engineers, the SBG was a failure.

SORD Light Hardsuit:

Image

Designed on a napkin during a company potluck, the light hardsuit design failed to include one thing: air conditioning. Light hardsuit users were often so overheated that they took the front plate off, making the suit essentially useless.

SORD Heavy Hardsuit

Image

The SORD heavy hardsuit was supposed to be an improvement on the light hardsuit. Unfortunately, its hind wheels often got stuck in mud, rocks, and rubble. Soldiers jokingly called it the "wheelchair".

SORD Armored scout bike

Image

There's nothing wrong with the armored scout bike. Yet it's unfairly despised due to its users, many of whom were former street racers. Drivers are often heard screaming "Vtech just kicked in yo" over the SBG intercom.

SORD Repairmule

Image

The SORD Repairmule is exactly what it sounds like. Originally designed as a civilian construction mech, it was given no armor and no weapons. Repaimule operators usually hang far behind the main battle group, only appearing after the battle is over to service the other vehicles.

SORD Command mech:

Image

The Command mech is a single pilot vehicle designed to coordinate the SBG. However, given its cramped and claustrophobic cockpit, the command mech is not well liked by its users. Other mech pilots joking nicknamed it the Xerox, after its similarity to an office copier.

SORD Recon Mech

Image

The SORD Recon Mech is really just a large hardsuit. Its design is largely based off of a civilian riot mech, though with the addition of a light Maser cannon on its left arm. Given its lack of armor in the front, pilots would often weld on surplus armor parts for extra protection.

SORD Hunchback

Image

The Hunchback is a surprisingly competent design from SORD, mainly because it wasn't designed by SORD engineers. Cobbled together from various stolen plans, the Hunchback is a small but heavily armored and armed hardsuit. They are often grouped in the dozens, and are widely considered to be the workhorses of the SBG.

SORD Hunchback Type 2 (Type-R)

Image

Jokingly called the Type-R due to its speed over the original Hunchback, The Hunchback Type 2 was designed to launch all of its weapons in a surprise attack and quickly scurry away. It is fondly called the Martian by its users, given its nontraditional design.

SORD Type-0

Image

Given only to the most advanced users, the Type-0 is a newly released model not yet given a nickname. One of the largest mechs in the SORD catalog, the Type-0 was designed as a completely modular mech. Various weapons and even heads can be switched out and replaced, giving it a level of versatility (and headache for the poor repair techs) unseen in other SORD designs.

SORD Super Pig:

Image

The Super Pig is the largest mech designed by SORD and the flagship model for the company. Though well armored and armed, the manufacturing cost of the Super Pig is exorbitant. SORD sells each model at a loss, using it as an advertising tool (with infamous pamphlets touting a power level "over 9000") and forcing salesmen to push lesser, more profitable models.

Oh Wow, some great stuff there. I love the Hunchback II the best. But the others are nice as well.

Brovo. :D

Great to see you here on the forums! I remember adding you as a contact and faving some of your stuff not too long ago. I'm really interested in the armored hoverbike as well.

Thanks, out of all the designs the bike is the one I'm least able to make instructions for. It looks straightforward enough, but it is a lego engineer's nightmare and is literally being held together by voodoo spirits.

Very well, that's all right. I'm planning to make my own version of an armored hoverbike. Lol, it's hard to find the right balance of size though, otherwise it might as well be a hovertank. Have you considered figuring out some stats for your guys or mass producing one of your models? I understand you have a very limited collection.

My props to you if you can make a bike that's small and sturdy. Sizing it correctly was really a pain, especially when you try to build around a minifig. Stats I will have to read more about, I'm still new to this stuff. And mass producing? Maybe in the future. I'm still tearing up each one of these guys as I build the next. Currently I have a horse looking thing on my desk .

My favorite is the Light Hardsuit I think (I'm a big fan of light stuff).

I loved the fluff, very well thought out and entertaining... especially focussing on the grumbling pilots problems with various models.

Yeah, there's a lot to love here but that Type-0 really takes the cake. So much personality, such nice proportions.

MicVash, you posted some of this guy's stuff on the forum and I looked at his Flickr too.

It is all so very awesome. Welcome to the forums, Ingraman. Stay a while.

All of these are amazing beyond belief. I second Blitzen's invitation to stay, we could use some more builders like you.

Stunningly awesome. Is there some kind of method to designing these or do you just tinker as you build? And where can I get some Voodo Spirits of my own. :D

Wow. I can honestly say I haven't seen hardsuits this cool in years. The Type-0 and the Hunchbacks are my favorites here, awesome work.
