Hello all,

Recently, I have been curious as to how others go about building up their armies. Do you use whatever figs you have at hand, or do you meticulously build each individual mecha, carefully think over and write the rules for each unit? Do you prefer a nice, cohesive force, or a raggedy taggedy horde?

I prefer the "Unit" method, meaning that I buy, and write stats for, each unit. This way you can, in one battle, have Dungans, Lion knights, Snake warriors, Deadly Spacemen, Post-Apoc Kommie Kommandos, Space-pirate Femmes, and all sorts of other goodies. What is your preferred method?

Both. Some elements where what ever my son and I had on hand while other parts were bought just for our armies.

originally i'd just use any on hand figs and shove them into semi cohesive armies based on hats or no hats and the like but lately i have been buying sets and kostomizing dem. like the green army men set and the clone trooper sets are my main troop supplies for The Coalition.

I match up torsos that look good together and move from there. Or, if I've got the coin, I get matching bodies and other parts off Bricklink. As far as stats, I just want to play the game and have lulz while having my guys look badass, so I use the standards mostly.

I'm very nitpicky about uniformity but that's quite visible on my armies.

I find <a href='http://tinyurl.com/y42zurt'>alot</a> of bricks and minifigs that follow a color scheme and slap together an army with a relatively similar style/feel to it. (Steampunk, sci-fi, modern, apocalego).

Initially I'll just keep trying different combinations of torso's or legs etc that strike me as good looking or that I have an idea for until I find a combination that works for me. Sometimes I'll even do this before coming up with a concept for the army but not always.

I try to match uniforms but where I can't due to lack of parts and I'm left with similar mini-figs then I'll just make them into a different type of squad for the same army.

The Immortals are all about individuality though so I get to take a break and practice making unique sig-figs.

Yeah, go for generic grunt, and the more expensive a unit is, the more unique it gets to be.

Have one or two tie-in colors is a must.

I try to keep uniformity, this often accomplished by using the colorschemes found in regular sets. I mix and match parts that are meant to be mixed, meaning I'm not that fond of switching arms from torsos etc... just something that sticks from my childhood I guess.

Lately though I've bought specific torsos etc from bricklink or PAB for building my german ww2 army.

Since I like uniformity, I guess I'd call the most numerous sort of figs my main army and different units that doesn't fit allies or something, not really part of the main force...

i was thinking bout that, but i lost my other sets of legs from older sets and I am too lazy to find aand rebuild them..

i grab a bunch of minifigs coble togather some veicals and whrit some rules up.
